Vodafone Smart 2 review

Vodafone follows up its original Smart with an updated Android handset

Small ; Well built ; Some nice widgets ; Responsive screen

Poor screen visibility outdoors ; Disappointing battery ; Limited video shooting

Vodafone Smart 2 review

A step forward from its predecessor, the Vodafone Smart 2 offers Android 2.3 on a shoestring. It's the ideal handset for novices or younger users but there are several glaring shortcomings that impact the overall user experience.

Solid design ; Low cost ; Some useful widgets pre-installed

Poor camera ; No Ice Cream Sandwich ; Average battery life

The Vodafone Smart 2 is a step in the right direction compared to the original Smart. For the asking price, it's hard to moan too much about its myriad failings. I'd have liked greater app storage, a better screen and a more impressive camera, but this...

We review the Vodafone Smart 2 – a £70 Android Gingerbread-powered smartphone

Solid built, great value for money

Small screen, average processor, poor battery life

While the Smart 2 isn’t the most accomplished Android phone we’ve ever seen, the low price tag, sturdy construction and bloat-free operating system make it an attractive purchase for newcomers shopping on a budget

I got this phone in December 2012 and noticed some of the problems that other users have mentioned, particularly the really annoying 'switching itself off' problem. I was about to take it back for a refund when I discovered a software update which...

Vodafone Smart 2

This is a great phone for new smartphone users and okay for intermediate users, but its flaws can often annoy and frustrate users very quickly if they're used to faster and better stocked phones.

Tactile, sturdy, tough, good touchscreen, responsive, SD port

Freezes sometimes, shuts itself down occasionally, terrible (and non-expandable) internal storage

This would have been a decent entry-level handset, had it not had so insufficient internal storage. I find the display and responsiveness OK, and since I'm not a heavy user, I can normally go for more than two days on the battery. My dislike for typing...

We liked The build quality is good. This is a solid handset that should take the knocks well. The screen responsiveness is great, too. We can find that budget handsets don't respond well to taps, sweeps and swipes, but that criticism can't be levelled...
