Xiaomi Mi 5 ( white)

The result? The Mi 5 is terrific, especially when you consider that Xiaomi's new flagship phone costs significantly less than the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 , without compromising on its most important features. It's fast and has a good camera. And...

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a sleek, lightweight design with a beautiful finish that's as good as any high-end phone. Great camera and dual-SIM features will let you use this as a travel phone too. It's top-of-the-line hardware at a low price.

There's no microSD card slot like the Samsung Galaxy S7, or removable battery like the LG G5.

Xiaomi's impressive Mi 5 has the features to stand up against the very best, but it's a shame it won't be officially available worldwide.

Xiaomi Mi 5 review: an alarmingly good smartphone

2016 is shaping up to be a great year for smartphones and the Xiaomi Mi 5 embodies many of the best trends that we can look forward to. Like Samsung's Galaxy S7, the Mi 5 is a handsome mix of the latest specs and Android software.

Raises the bar for cheap phones in a big way ; Zero worries about performance or battery life ; Software additions are smart and helpful

Some fit and finish concerns ; Image quality is a step below the best ; Not available in the US or Europe

Xiaomi Mi 5 vs Apple iPhone 6s

Xiaomi is one of China's most popular brands: the company started by making Apple clones and selling them for super affordable prices, but it has now largely moved past that stage. For a long time, it's been hard at work to bring a new flagship and...

Unlike the Mi 5, it is sold in the US and EU, with warranty and full LTE support ; Well-built, good-looking phone ; More compact ; Takes great photos and videos ; Excellent app ecosystem

We end with reminding you: the Xiaomi Mi 5 is not a phone meant to be sold in the U.S. or Europe. It’s only available via unofficial channels (you can find it on eBay in the United States and shop from resellers with European warehouse like GizChina’s...

Xiaomi Mi 5 Review

Xiaomi is a leading smartphone maker from China whose reputation for powerful, stylish and aggressively-priced gadgets stretches well beyond the Republic's borders. With its latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 5, the brand wants to offer almost...

Pleasant design ; Very good all-around performance ; Competitive price

Underwhelming video recording ; No microSD slot ; Hard to get

While the Xiaomi Mi 5 is a great all-around smartphone, only customers in China and India will be able to score it at bargain prices, starting at the equivalent of around $300 for the 32GB model. Shoppers from the rest of the world can buy the Mi 5...

Xiaomi Mi 5 review: flagship performance at a lower price

The Xiaomi Mi 5 represents great value for money if you're comparing it to other flagships. Compared to Xiaomi's own price though...?

: Between the improved camera, powerhouse processor and quality screen, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is a compelling proposition at a price few mobile manufacturers can even get close to. : 8.5/10

Xiaomi Mi 5 review: Incredible hardware, irritating software

Xiaomi's Mi 5 is the Chinese vendor's most refined device yet. The hardware is outstanding for the price, but availability and lingering issues with the software continue to be drawbacks.

Great display ; Premium design ; Fast hardware

Software niggles ; Camera not great in low-light ; No microSD slot

The Mi 5 is a great phone, offering incredible hardware in the mid-tier segment. Overall refinement is still missing when you compare the Mi 5 to the Galaxy S7, but then again Samsung's offering costs twice as much.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Review

With flagship specs at an astonishing price, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has a lot to offer but can it topple the flagships of today? Here's our Mi 5 review.

Excellent design & solid build quality ; Impressive display ; Unmatched performance for the price ; Good battery life with Quick Charge 3.0 support ; Great camera in good light ; 4-axis OIS is helpful ; Fingerprint reader is very fast & accurate ;...

No U.S. availability ; Lack of U.S. 4G LTE support ; Low-light camera performance is sub-par ; MIUI is still missing features found in stock Android ; Bootloader unlocking process is unwieldy

Xiaomi has dotted the i's and crossed the t's with the Mi 5 and delivered an astonishingly impressive smartphone. By offering what is quite possibly the best mobile experience at this price, Xiaomi has yet again redefined what an affordable smartphone...

Xiaomi Mi 5 Review: The Affordable Flagship

It's been a long time coming. Rumors, speculations and just a whole lot of waiting but finally two years after the launch of the rather spectacular Mi 4, the brand new Mi 5 is here with us. All this while, the company has been working on expanding its...

Price to Performance Ratio; Design; Battery Life

Intermittent Heating Issues; Video Quality; Speaker

The Xiaomi Mi 5 without a doubt pushes the boundaries of what has been achievable in an affordably priced handset. The phone brings top of the line performance, amazing battery life and stunning design for a price point of Rs. 24,999 which is...

Xiaomi Mi 5 review: It’s hard to argue with $305 for a Snapdragon 820

Xiaomi's software needs a serious upgrade, though.

A Snapdragon 820 for an amazing $305 ; Build quality worthy of a much more expensive phone ; Fast, accurate fingerprint reader ; USB Type-C ; The camera isn't up to the level of a $700 camera, but for $305, it's pretty good

Broken permissions system allows some apps to slip through without user consent ; Unlabeled "back" and "recent" buttons can be confusing ; No "always on" voice support ; It's a China-only phone, so the LTE bands won't work in most countries ; Glass...

Xiaomi offers amazing hardware for the money. The company managed to cram a Snapdragon 820 into a $305 phone while still doing a great job on the screen, camera, and build quality. There are even a few "extra" features here, like dual SIM cards, USB...
