Great machine but no longer made. Did Solis go under?

The repair person said it would take an hour to fix. He's had the machine 3 weeks! Don't buy from espressoparts.com. We are still waiting for the machine. Not happy having to buy our latte's.

Makes great espresso, good steaming! I really like this machine. It's a bit complicated in the way we have to make the latte - but now that we realized it was broken that may have been the issue. I look forward to getting it back

The pump lasted 9 months and we sent it back under warranty

Would I recommend it to a friend? YES

I bought it based on what I read here. I originally wanted to buy a super-automatic but taste test done in the stores and at home on machine on loan convinced us to go to a semi-automatic.

Nice starting machine ; quality of the "inside ; produce more steam than needed for foaming milk

looks cheap, the front panel is glued on a "lumpy surface ; filter size: 53 mm instead of 58 mm which seems to be a standard size

One year later I need a new machine.

I used the reviews on this site and others to choose my machine last year. The Solis SL70 had consistently good reviews and it fit more with my budget. My experience in this past year is that the machine does have the strengths listed by other...

Easy to use and provides consistent results

Machine broken two weeks outside of warranty

Terrific entry level machine with a mega-steamer for the milk-based drink fan. But has price risen too high?

Sorry for probably the most tardy review in coffeegeek history. This one is a few years late, but I felt I should share my experience.

The SL-70 is extremely easy to use. It was a step up from a Krups toy machine and allowed a bit of the barista experience to be enjoyed, especially with a non-pressurized filter. The machine has the ability to produce decent espresso shots. With the...

The 53mm non-commercial portafilter is a drawback. I had to repair switches twice on this machine, with the second time upgrading to the commercial switch panel. The repair was easy and I was able to do it myself with only the parts cost coming out...

Be sure if you buy this machine to insist they replace it within the warranty period if it doesn't work. If it does work, I defer to the excellent re

As my daughter's machine, identical to mine except that hers worked and mine never did, makes very good coffee, including straight shots, the true test, then I'm going to stick with the new Solis Crema 70 they are sending me, and use the...

Actually, my review sounds more negative than it is. The review I found on this site gave me information on how to better use my Solis Crema 70. SOME MACHINES HAVE DEFECTS, and I seem to have received one of them. The review by the engineer...

The steamer on my machine did not work properly, and I wasted my 30 day warrantee time from the company I bought it from trying this and that with the Solis rep, who is sweet as sweet can be (Josie). I'm saying it here for all to see: JOSIE IS AN ANGEL

Best-in-class steaming makes this unit a compelling value.

I've used this machine for a couple lattes every morning for a little more than a year, with the occasional guest coming over. This machine is legit, and I haven't yet experienced the reliability problems some people mention.

Possibly the best value in espresso under $1000. Real espresso and unbelievable steam power

A few flaws out of the box -- pressurized baskets and 53mm size. And it's ugly compared to the competition

Don't buy this machine, it doesn't last!

Good steaming, good espresso, however the machine died in 1.5 years. I don't think that is value for the money. When paying over 300.00 I expect the machine to last a lot longer. It just about electrocuted me yesterday after slowing down to a...

Machine died in 1.5 years what else can I say.... I don't think that is value for the money. When paying over 300.00 I expect the machine to last a lot longer. It just about electrocuted me yesterday after slowing down to a trickle the last two...

You simply cannot do better for less than $300.00 IMHO

This machine has excellent build and parts quality for the money. Not overly picky about the grinds you put in either. Nice pump power. Great for a newbie and equally good for the connosieur.

Excellent parts and build quality. Nice heavy, chrome plated brass portafilter, marine brass boiler and group. Metal body construction

Crema enhancing filter baskets, might be a bonus for some

I'd look for a machine that has better construction and a longer warranty. A $300 machine shouldn't simply die in three years.

This was my first espresso machine and I bought it after doing a lot of research. I did enjoy it while it lasted. It looks very attractive, is easy to use and makes decent espresso. I enjoyed using the steam wand for hot water and heating up cider and...

When it works, it works great and is easy to master

After three years, it's simply died

Outside a few "dream" upgrades, the best in its class.

This purchase came after careful review of both the product and the budget. Taking those two into account, it is really a great machine over-all. The detailed review

Easily used by a beginner. Great steam! Chromed brass portafilter. Extra large water resevoir. Fast start-up

Plastic housing seems less than durable. Small filter basket (53mm). Ships with completely useless pressurized filter baskets. Cup warmer...barely. Portafilter handle is plastic and feels "cheap
