Olympus PEN E-PM2 Review

Olympus PEN E-PM2 information: Although we tested both the Olympus PEN E-PM2 and the PEN E-PL5, the review below is based on our time spent with E-PL5. Both cameras are near identical in features and performance, and the observations made also apply to...

Fast autofocusing system ; Takes very good photos ; Special effects and filters allow you to take fun pictures ; A slightly more affordable option to the similar E-PL5

Requires playing around to learn features and settings ; Lens is a bit big on what is otherwise a compact camera ; LCD real estate is eaten up by the menu options

The PEN E-PM2 costs less than the similar PEN E-PL5. Performance and features are near identical minus a few things.

Olympus PEN E-PM2 Review

The latest camera in the line of the ILC PEN family of cameras from Olympus, the PEN E-PM2 has a desirable combination of features and performance; at a good starting price. This is one of the better ILC models on the market, offering quite a few...

Outstanding image quality ; High-quality widescreen LCD is great ; Touch screen option on LCD is nice for beginners ; Various control buttons give you a second option if you choose not to use the touch screen ; Small camera design versus DSLRs is...

Menu structure can be a little tough to master ; Doesn't quite have the image quality you'd find in a DSLR camera ; May require investment in additional lenses in the future ; No built-in or popup flash option means you have to carry the included...

Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2

This year's entry-level Micro Four Thirds camera, the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 ($599.99 direct with lens), comes in at a higher price than its predecssor, the $500 PEN E-PM1 . For the extra money you get a vastly improved 16-megapixel image sensor and...

Sharp kit lens. Good high ISO performance. Fast shot-to-shot time and focus. Live Guide mode. Optional EVF available. In-camera art filters

Fixed rear display. No built-in flash

The Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 is a capable little interchangeable-lens camera with a Live Guide mode for photographic novices, but for just $100 more you can get a better PEN.

Olympus PEN E-PM2

Fewer calories, same great Olympus taste.

One of the best introductory mirrorless options around.

Olympus E-PM2 review

Olympus launched the PEN Mini E-PM2 and the PEN Lite E-PL5 at Photokina 2012. Both PEN cameras share a lot of similarities, most notably the same 16.1 million pixel sensor and TruePic VI processor that have been taken from the highly acclaimed Olympus...

Olympus PEN E-PM2 Review

You can't complain about the lack of variety in the current crop of mirrorless interchangeable lens compact cameras! This one will sure fit many people right down to the ground.

With the f3.5/14-42mm kit lens fitted to the review camera, the distance from the back of the camera to lens front stretched to a lengthy 10cm … and that was with the lens at minimum ‘stretch’!

Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 review

There's a lot of choice in Olympus's Pen range. The E-PM2, also known as the Pen Mini, is the baby, and smallest, model of the company's compact system camera range.

Affordable, good image quality, fast single autofocus, art filters have plenty of use, touchscreen, hotshoe and accessory port

Kit lens is a bit soft, no built-in flash, front grip is plasticky, few function buttons, can't use included flash and optional electronic viewfinder together, continuous autofocus not up to scratch

A solid compact system camera, the E-PM2 succeeds in improving on its E-PM1 predecessor across the board. Image quality is good, though a more premium lens will get the most out of the camera. We're definitely fans of the E-PM2, but its the all-round...

Hands on: Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 review

Photokina 2012 Olympus's smallest compact system camera gets 16.1 million pixels and touchscreen control. So it is easier to use now?
