Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G6 Preview

Panasonic has announced its latest Wi-Fi capable, interchangeable lens LUMIX series camera for 2013. The DMC-G6 is an updated version of last year's well-reviewed G5, which our reviewer said "delivers a lot of high-end features in a lightweight,...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6: Lab Test Results & Comments

As a member of the G Series, the G6 is styled like an SLR system, in contrast to the GF models, which are styled like compact cameras. The G6 offers a high-resolution viewfinder system with an OLED screen that has 1.4 million RGB dots. In addition, it...

Very fast AF system ; Swivel LCD screen with high resolution for comfortable shooting ; Comprehensive video features ; Wi-Fi and NFC connection

1.5-stop drop in dynamic range at ISO 400

The latest Lumix is better than the G5 in more ways than one.

This camera represents an evolutionary dead-end. Even though Panasonic's done a fine job making the G6 a great update of a camera we already thought was pretty decent, the tired 16-megapixel sensor at its heart just isn't all that great any more....

Panasonic G6 review: although the Lumix G6 uses the same 16.05MP sensor as the G5, the Panasonic G6 brings a more powerful Venus Engine and an improved touchscreen and electronic viewfinder. But is it any good? Find out in our video review.

Panasonic Lumix G6

Like the G5 before it, the G6 is styled like a mini DSLR with a decent sized grip and viewfinder head, although Panasonic has redesigned the shell to give it quite a different look to its predecessor. Inside the Lumix G6 employs the same 16 Megapixel...

OLED viewfinder and 3in articulated touchscreen ; Great Wifi features including remote control and NFC ; Fast single autofocus which works under very low light ; Movies w 1080/60/50/24p, focus peaking and mic input ; Time lapse, stop motion, panoramas...

Quality similar to last 2 generations. But does it matter ; No built-in GPS. Adding data via app can be fiddly ; Can't turn down 'ta-da' sound when NFC is successful ; Phase-detect AF systems remain better for continuous AF

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Panasonic Lumix G6 is one of the most satisfying cameras I've used to date. The image quality may be essentially the same as its predecessor, but the feature set, handling and usability have all received...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6 Review

If it looks like a DSLR, feels like a DSLR, works like a DSLR and takes pictures like a DSLR, it probably is a DSLR. Izznit?

Panasonic Lumix G6 review

The Panasonic Lumix G6 - cue Far East Movement's "like a G6" lyric taking on yet another meaning - is the company's most tech-laden compact system camera to date. Much the previous Lumix G5 model with added pep, the G6 sports a new design, while...

Fast autofocus, touchscreen is super-responsive, decent image quality, detailed OLED electronic viewfinder, body-based zoom toggle to control power zoom lenses

Continuous autofocus still not quite there, no image quality improvement compared to predecessor, chunkier build/size won't suit all, no ISO 100 sensitivity

We'd argue that the Lumix G6 is not only a step closer in closing the gap between DSLR and CSC cameras’ capabilities, but that - in some respects - it's a step beyond. When it comes to value for money and feature set the G6 is more packed with feature...

Same sensor as the G5, but more responsive

Viewfinder ; Fully articulating screen ; Extensive touchscreen controls ; Can shoot raw files with filters

Old 16MP sensor ; Can't use Creative Control options in advanced exposure modes

Panasonic Lumix G6 review

The Panasonic DMC-G6 Compact System Camera is priced slightly higher than many DSLRs. But is the smaller form factor in this case actually worth the cash?

DSLR-like look and feel ; Compact style ; Warm ; rich ; detailed pics

Too expensive ; It's bulky

It may sound like feint praise but there's not much wrong with Panasonic's mini DSLR-styled G6. If you don't need the EVF supplied on the 16-megapixel compact system camera then save your money and go for cheaper (most CSCs allow the use of an EF as an...
