Anno 2070 Review

The sci-fi city building of Anno 2070 is a fresh take on a familiar genre. Expect to get hooked, and stay hooked.

Involving mix of city building, resource management, and mission completion ; Metagame adds persistence in clever ways ; Great visuals and soundtrack give the game a cool sci-fi style ; Pollution control and underwater islands invigorate the formula

Online copy protection makes for occasional technical trouble ; Some interface quirks and other foibles can lead to confusion for beginners

Not that everyone likes health food, though the game's Eco faction sure wolfs it down. The Tycoons, other playable faction, aren't so environmentally conscious, preferring champagne to biodrinks. There's an interesting dynamic here representing a very...

Anno 2070 Review

Trading in gunpowder kegs and fields of wheat for missile turrets and high tech underwater algae farms, Anno 2070 is a great change.

Dropping the familiar strategic economy simulation and city building gameplay into a new future setting really refreshes the franchise, but it's great to see that beneath its gorgeous new sci-fi sheen, Anno 2070 isn't simply a re-skinned version of its...

Anno 2070

The popular Anno series has survived for over a decade now, each title being numbered in such a way that makes you wonder if they form some kind of sequence test. There is only so much you can do with wooden ships and colonial-era economies, and...

Story-hungry players might feel unfulfilled by the campaign, but Anno 2070's mechanics provide enough food that their bellies will be bloated by the time they move on to another game. While it may bewilder players new to the genre with the sheer...

Anno 2070

Although its title places it almost 60 years in the future, Anno 2070 is very much a game for our present..

However, it may prove too clumsy for some city-builders and there will certainly be RTS warmongers turned off by the lack of battle. It’s a good game, it just isn’t for everyone.

Anno 2070- PC

Playable and polished, Anno 2070 is a steady improvement on what has come before. If anything, it plays things too safe, with innovations like online elections and undersea bases making little impact. Worth your time, but lacking the resources to...

Anno 2070- PC

No matter what your speed, Anno 2070 is addictive in the best way, by combining three brands of compelling design into one: intricate urban planning, time-sensitive questing, and persistent rewards for continued play. And that trifecta will keep you...

Anno 2070- PC

Anno 2070 might not look much like the Anno games we remember, but under the hood there's still that familiar and absorbing city management and strategy game we love.

Anno 2070- PC

Even in sandbox mode, the game throws a variety of goals and tasks at you to keep you engaged, so it's not like you're just playing Minecraft with boats -- although the Minecraft crowd will find a lot to like here, and so will anybody else who likes...

Anno 2070- PC

It is one of those games that delights in systems, and entertains us by allow us to play with this systems, and make a toy of its peculiarly land-hungry colonisation process. I think you'll know if this is likely to satisfy a particular void in your...
