Batman: Arkham Asylum- PC

Ladies and gentlemen, if I may now draw your attention to the center ring, it is now time for something that everyone has been waiting for. Well, okay, maybe not everyone, but definitely Dark Knight fans: A Batman game that is actually good. No,...

I’ll be frank: Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the most enjoyable and most compelling games that I’ve played in a long time. It’s like a good book; once you pick it up, you won’t want to put it down until you've read it all the way through.

A post-mortem look at Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The game is split into a number of divisions. Firstly, you have the navigation and Detective Mode in which Batman will go in search of clues to find his next objective. You have the ability to sprint and glide between locations, which can also be...

It will definitely put a smile on that face

This is the first game that truly grants players an opportunity to be Batman, whether he's using his intellect or his fists. Anyone with even a modicum of interest in playing an awesome Batman game should pick up Arkham Asylum, without any hesitation.

Finally, a comic book game based on Batman that's truly a fun and fantastic adventure has arrived on the scene. Rocksteady Studios was just known for Urban Chaos prior to Batman: Arkham Asylum but after this game they're going to be a pretty big name....

For Batman fans, this game is a long time coming. Taking the Unreal engine, Rocksteady has gone and made a truly fun superhero game and it looks incredible on the PC. If you have the NVIDIA hardware to play with, it looks even better and includes...

The Dark Knight's finest hour.

The best Batman (or, really, any comic-inspired) videogame ever made

In stark contrast to the rest of the game, the boss fights aren't very imaginative

The Dark Knight gets PhysXal.

As Batman: Arkham Asylum has already been carving huge Joker smiles on every console gamers’ face, you’ll be well aware that Rocksteady's sublime foray into the realm of the iconic comic book hero is an unmitigated success. But as a PC gamer, you might...

Touching down on PC, Bats makes the granddaddy of superhero entrances

Authentic Batman feel ; Loads to see and do ; Great acting and atmosphere

Combat sometimes frustrates ; Repetition of some areas ; Weak boss battles

Despite these niggles, it is safe to say this is almost certainly the best superhero game ever released.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

You don't need to be a fan of Batman to enjoy this excellent third-person action game.

Story mode really sucks you in ; Uncomplicated combat is fast-paced and looks fantastic ; Tons of cool stuff to unlock, including Challenge mode maps ; Audio and visual presentation is uniformly impressive ; You won't want to stop playing even after...

Too tempting to play through the entire game in detective vision mode ; Supervillains that you don't get to fight feel like missed opportunities
