Battlefield 2

Sun Tzu wrote that "the skillful commander takes up a position in which he cannot be defeated and misses no opportunity to master his enemy." Until recently, this was just a theory in games because of poor interteam communication. With built-in VoIP...

Battlefield 2 (PC)

There will be doubters and naysayers who will claim that Battlefield 2 is just an incremental upgrade from its famous predecessors, or that it only offers a marginal improvement over the popular Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942. Ignore them,...

Forgotten Hope 2 -- A Battlefield 2 Total Conversion

Just when you thought all hope was forgotten the first time.

Epic battles; terrific attention to detail

Convoluted player objectives; sticky corners

Battlefield 2: Armored Fury review for the PC

Ten dollar sucky-sucky.

New vehicles

Uninspiring maps; Where are my Special Forces?; And how about a new weapon or class?; Should be free

We don't usually review patches. Then again, companies don't usually charge for them. But it's summer, which means there aren't a lot of interesting new games in the office, and EA's new Battlefield 2: Armored Fury booster pack (read: patch you pay...

Battlefield 2 preview

At this point, Battlefield 2 looks like it'll definitely be one multiplayer experience to win us over this year. There are so many things in this new sequel that we just couldn't mention them all here. You'll have to wait to see our full detailed...

Battlefield 2: Euro Force

Battlefield 2's Euro Force is the first of the booster packs to be released for Battlefield 2. These booster packs only feature three maps unlike the full fledged Special Forces expansion released last year. Keeping with the idea of bite sized...

For $9.99, Euro Force has enough material to keep Battlefield fans entertained for a little while longer. It is a more balanced expansion and some of the maps, like The Great Wall, can be pretty hectic. I personally liked Operation Smoke Screen better,...

Battlefield 2: Euro Force

Three kick-ass new maps breathe extra life into this amazing, if still flawed, game.

The new maps are sensational; fairly inexpensive; same old Battlefield brilliance

Core game still has deep underlying problems

Battlefield 2

Savagely cool visuals, rampaging teamwork; the best in the series

Inspires teamwork like no other ; Tons of fun maps, vehicles and classes ; An achievement in realism

Brutal system hog, laggy server interface ; Just one game type ; Impotent anti-air vs. uber jets

Riding shotgun with crackerjack helicopter pilots or as part of an armored cav rush through the gritty and amazingly-detailed cityscapes, deliver awesome cinematic moments. You'll bounce from boat to jeep to jet and back with ease thanks to tunable...

Battlefield 2: Special Forces

EA's expansion to the popular PC game adds new features, but still fails to fix prior issues.

Additionally, since infantry is the main focus of this expansion, you'll also need to monitor your groups more efficiently. If you aren't well versed in the art of squad leading and organization, you may find this expansion a bit too much for you.

Product Specifications

The award-winning Battlefield franchise invades the high-tech frontlines of modern warfare in the new sequel, Battlefield 2. The game brings the intensity and excitement of Battlefield 1942 into the modern era with enhanced teamplay and the latest, most technologically advanced vehicles and weapons systems available to man. In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 64 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to rise through the ranks and attain the ultimate rank of General. An all-new game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive. Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized gameplay experience. Enhanced teamplay features allow players to enter the action on the frontlines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. Soldier kits now affect vehicles that players utilize on the battlefield. For instance, the medic kit can transform a vehicle into a mobile aid station and the support kit can make helicopters into flying ammo dumps.
