Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

It's what the pack shot suggests - an honest paint-by-numbers shooter set in the Old West. The story might be over too soon, but the multiplayer will hold your attention for much longer. A definite improvement over the original Call of Juarez.

Panoramic vistas, superb audio and a heap of gun-slinging, stagecoach-stealing, horse-riding action. Come for the story, stay for the multiplayer

At around ten hours, the plot could have been longer, although you can go back and play scenes as a different brother. Some of the graphical effects and palette choices are unusual, and the AI sometimes takes a siesta

Worth a look.

Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood (2009)

A rootin’, tootin’, wild west shootin’ adventure that shirks the gritty WWII or shiny sci-fi posturing of most contemporary blasters, Bound In Blood is a breath of fresh air in a painfully clichéd genre.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Games Xtreme trails the McCall brothers in the Wild West and proves that there's life in the Western genre. The sequel/prequel to Call of Juarez is a lot better than the first and that's a fact.

The game is good, it’s a solid entry into the shooter market and it has variety in level design and weapons design. It's got a decent if somewhat buggy multiplayer and evokes a solid Wild West atmosphere – worth buying.

Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood

Polish game designers Techland have chosen to go back in time for this FPS prequel. Bound in Blood follows feuding brothers Ray and Thomas McCall from the American Civil War right the way through to their tragic search for the Lost Treasure of Cortez...

Very good graphics ; Good story and voice work ; Nods to various westerns ; Shoot two guns at once ; Throw dynamite ; Ride and shoot on horseback ; Fairly good enemy A.I ; Excellent selection of online modes ; Thomas and Ray offer different playing...

Irritating pauses for loading ; Showdowns lack accuracy ; Tiny writing and objective location markers ; Concentration mode takes time to master ; Cut scenes are quite long

Playing through Story mode as the other brother lengthens the life of the game, as do the Free World sections which offer side quests and the chance to earn money for buying better weapons. Add to this an online Multiplayer mode where you can be...
