Darksiders II Review

Vigil caused quite a stir when they released Darksiders; an action-adventure romp that was an entirely new intellectual property, inspired by a comic book perspective on the squabbles between Angels and Demons. It caused a stir because it was good –...

I’d say upgrading myself with a new pair of Possessed Double Scythes for some serious reaping, and generally getting to figure out some decent puzzles before sticking it to a boss.

Darksiders 2 Review

There's a really fun game to be found here, but you have to look past a lot of technical problems to see it.

Great atmosphere; challenging dungeons; loot system

Really poor quality port; forgettable story; bugs; bring a gamepad

THQ is a wildly unpredictable company these days -- you never know if the PC version is gonna get a good quality Saints Row: The Third or a half-assed waste of potential like this. Still, if you've got an older PC that couldn't handle high-end graphics...

Darksiders II Review

Darksiders II proves that bigger isn't always better.

Despite its problems, I was compelled onward in my quest with Death because Darksiders II is simply a fun game. The RPG elements and to-the-point action all make for some solid gaming, glitches and all. It’s a shame so many glaring issues hold such an...

Darksiders II Review

Darksiders II merges action, exploration, and loot-driven progression into an excellent and sizable adventure.

Fluid, colorful action that evolves over time ; Clever, progressively more challenging environmental puzzles ; Allure of new, cool loot pushes you onward ; Expansive adventure, with lots of dungeons to explore ; Great audiovisual presentation sets the...

Some performance and technical issues ; No proper visual customization options ; Disappointing bosses, especially the final boss

Darksiders II Review: Ashes to Ashes, Loot to Loot

A safe, but thoroughly satisfying home-cooked meal.

It's strange, really -- by all accounts, I should not want to spendtime in the world of DarksidersII. While the visuals aren't badby any means, the heavy-metal character designs and stereotypical levelmotifs don't scream inspiration. And the wet...

Darksiders II Review

War, what is it good for?

Feverish combat; Intuitive, unintrusive puzzles; Sprawling, varied temples; Death, himself; Enemies, bosses, and blood; Can't... put... it.... down

A muddy story; Weak finale

All of Death's weapons come with unique stats and abilities. My favorite scythes were a pair of frost-inducing blades that slowed enemies and provided more opportunities for executions than other weapons. I complemented them with arm blades of shock...

Great followup from original Darksiders

A fun game with plenty action. The fighting controls and moves feel smooth and look great. Nice balance of puzzle solving and action. This product has... Downloadable Content

more open world exploration, more gameplay, customizable character & skills

PC menu controls are awkward, side quests can be so vague you dont know where to find them or how to complete

You might miss the up-front barrage of action at first, but Darksiders II is more about adventure than constant onslaught, though there are plenty of battles waiting ahead. As you ride your steed to the first main dungeon, you can relish the green...

Darksiders II

With Darksiders II Vigil has managed to capture a sense of one of the rarest feelings in video games: a genuine adventure. This is a fascinatingly hokey journey.

Plenty of content on offer ; A nice mix of many different gameplay styles

Doesn't bring anything new to the table ; Not quite all it could be

You could ask for Darksiders II to be more imaginative, then, and it would be nice to see some sharper puzzles, tighter combat and loftier jumps, but for a game obsessed with revenge and murder Vigil has crafted something with a surprising amount of...
