Defense Grid: The Awakening

Somewhere around level 8 in Defense Grid: The Awakening things got really tricky to the point where I had to restart the level several times before figuring out how to move forward. By that point, however, I was already hooked. I was determined to...

Second copy of the game downloadable via Steam ; Solid gameplay equal parts puzzle and strategy

The computer "assistant" can be repetitive and unhelpful ; Twice as much as the Xbox Live Arcade version

Worth the money and time, but you may want to investigate the Xbox Live Arcade version if cost is an issue.

Defense Grid: The Awakening [XBLA, PC]

It was only going to be a matter of time before a game like Defense Grid would come along. The tower defence genre has taken off, seemingly out of nowhere, now the internet is literally filled with flash versions of the genre, even one of the iPhone's...

Addictive easy to pick up, difficult to master gameplay ; Pinnacle of tower defence codes and conventions ; Deep strategic element to main gameplay through robust tower selection, path creation and enemy characters ; Each level features a host of...

Short campaign ; Doesn't innovate or offer anything new to the genre ; Lack of multiplayer or anything significant outside of main campaign

Defense Grid: The Awakening is quite possibly the best tower defence game ever created but the title doesn't innovate the genre very much. Newcomers will adore the title, while veterans might want to consider the fact they may have already played this...

Defense Grid: The Awakening - PC review at Thunderbolt Games

I'm not quite sure where my love for the tower defence genre started. Perhaps it was back in the day with Command and Conquer: Red Alert and its skirmish mode, sitting back on the high ground trying to thwart enemy advancement towards my base with...

Defense Grid: The Awakening

A deep, strategic puzzler infused with personality

Challenging gameplay ; Colorful level backgrounds ; Excellent voice acting

Some alien designs aren't as detailed ; Sometimes frustrating difficulty ; May keep you up past your bedtime

Defense Grid: The Awakening Review

Wakey, wakey, aliens invade-y.

Accessible; building and upgrading anti-alien towers in a sci-fi setting

Crippled interface that can't be changed

Defense Grid is a solid, well-rounded strategy game that expands on a few fundamental ideas. The slow pace allows for accessibility, but it heats up enough to sate the lust of tower defense-addicts everywhere with a steadily increasing challenge,...

Defense Grid: The Awakening - Review

Defense Grid is a tower defense game, and at its core it's about what you'd expect for a game in the genre. You have a resource to protect, an invader that wants to take the resource, a few paths that the invaders can use to get to the resource, and...

Defense Grid is about as deep as a tower defense game can go.

Defense Grid: The Awakening review

Defense Grid: The Awakening is a prime example of taking an unoriginal, well-known style of video game and turning it into a masterpiece with touched-up graphics and sound.

We love tower-defence games, and Defense Grid is one of the better ones we've played. Between this and Plants vs Zombies, tower-defence junkies have a lot to smile about.

Defense Grid: The Awakening Review [360]

The Distracting, more like

Right up there with Plants vs Zombies as one of the best examples of tower defence, and yet so different that at this price there is absolutely no excuse not to own it.

Defense Grid: The Awakening

Cheap yet remarkably enjoyable ; The voice acting for the "Grid" and his passion for Raspberries ; Very challenging on the harder difficulty

Too bloody addictive ; No camera panning

Defense Grid: The Awakening

In the last few years we have not seen a bigger waste of time for office gamers than the many tower defense games which are available all over the internet. While there have been some commercial attempts at this game type, most have been gameplay...

Graphics and effects are very well done ; Audio is basic but high quality ; Very cheap price ; Basic and straight forward gameplay which never becomes old ; Many ways to beat a level, story, limited tower, limited funds, etc ; Many towers, multiple...

Last level is insanely difficult compared to all of the others ; No gameplay innovation such as multiplayer, Co-op, Level Editor ; A bigger time sink then any casual game in years... maybe a good thing

Graphically, Defense Grid is a great looking game with plenty of variety in the over all level and tower design as well as some good looking enemies. The graphics and animations for the enemies and each of the towers are very well done, with each...
