Depths of Peril

The hidden depths of the indie RPG

Diablo-esque ; A living world ; Innovative elements

Diablo-clone ; Not easy ; No multiplayer

Depths has three main problems. Firstly, some odd difficulty spikes, presumably coming from how unpredictable the world is. Secondly, being an action-RPG gold-collector, it's a trifle repetitive. And finally, it would have been nice to have...

Soldak Entertainment is a small-scale game developer. But despite their size (only a handful of full-time staff members and a host of contracted designers), they've managed to build a game of epic size and scale. How'd they do it? Basically, by...

Depths of Peril is a game for true gamers. This is rare among anything with the letters "RPG" printed near it. Most RPGs these days excel in presentation: the story, the graphics, and the sound are superb. Soldak didn't have the budget or the manpower...

This games was ok. It be better if the graphics were better but what can you expect Post a Comment

Depths of Peril is the epitome of a good indie game that isn't quite great. It brings some new and innovative stuff to the table, yet does it in a way that many people won't recognize until a big-budget title takes its ideas.

Depths of Peril (PC) review

The storyline has little to no individual traits to distinguish itself from the crowd. It starts with your character, who is a covenant leader (covenant is the game's name for factions) situated in the settlement of Jorvik. Outside this little town the...

The hack and slash action, regardless of its familiarity, is very satisfying.

Depths of Peril (PC) review

An RPG where the pen is equal to the sword. rnSounds dull? It most certainly isn't

The quests lack imagination at times, but the strategic elements add depth.

Product Specifications

The great barbarian city of Jorvik is in turmoil. Surrounded by evil monsters of all sorts on the outside, plagued by sectarian division on the inside, the city desperately needs a leader to unify the people and protect the land. As a faction leader, you must protect the city by solving an array of quests, while also destroying legions of threatening monsters. At the same time, you must compete with rival factions to see who will rule the city. Strategically build alliances, negotiate trades, raid and plunder, and at the right time go to war with rival factions.
