Elemental: Fallen Enchantress

A specter haunts the face of fantasy strategy gaming – the specter of “Master of Magic”. Gamers of a certain age remember MoM fondly. This reviewer was not the only one to spend many a sleepless night with the game.

A collection of average mechanics combine to make a big, complicated, pretty good game. It's no “Master of Magic”, but there is real potential here. Expect some killer mods.

Elemental: Fallen Enchantress Review

Fallen Enchantress is a smart, challenging strategy game with tons of depth.

Compelling turn-based gameplay keeps you coming back for more ; Great empire-building options provide long-term strategic depth and replayability ; Aggressive, challenging AI ; Eerie, atmospheric music contributes to the fantasy flavor

Extremely tough in the beginning ; Not enough variety to the predictable tactical battles ; Dated battlefield and unit visuals

From these early beginnings with one city, you expand across the land with outposts and satellite cities. Each new city can be established with a different purpose. You might have a town that comes with a bonus to the area of control it establishes, a...

Does Fallen Enchantress save the Elemental franchise?

Fierce competition for resources; a challenging and hostile world; imposes hard choices through city and hero specialization

Tactical battles are repetitive; early game is too hard; AI is inconsistent

My army prepares to storm a city. Despite that, the middle and late game come together beautifully, but at the cost of a fair and entertaining beginning. Fortunately, Fallen Enchantress is not just a strategy game. It is a fantasy strategy RPG that, by...
