Endless Space

Exploring the universe, colonizing planets, and meeting (while sometimes fighting) alien races is a good summary of what you will be doing in

As long as you are quick to build up your empire, Endless Space can be one hell of a good time. The tough and unforgiving AI may get in the way of people who like to move at a slow pace and just build up your galaxies but the game does well to force...

Endless Space

This is a game I really wanted to love. I love strategy games, and alien worlds, and exploration, and space battles. I love weirdness and mystery. This game delivers a lot of what I enjoy, but it is not going to consume the time I would normally,...

Absolutely beautiful ; Cleverly designed interfaces and refinements on the genre

Flawed and frustrating navigation screen ; Function is sacrificed to form

The things that keep me from loving this game may be addressed in a future patch. If navigation if fixed add 2-3 points to the score. If you see it on deep discount, give it a try.

The greatest stories are the ones you make in your mind. It's one of the key reasons why I personally believe the strategy genre gets away with being relatively unchanging over the years. Look beyond Endless Space's rich (and wonderfully batty) sci-fi...

Getting to the later stages of the game and seeing your big Battleships and Dreadnoughts be brought to bear for the first time. Although still, not a big fan of the ship designs, but what can you do?

I'm not a bad man. Sure, I might rule over billions of miserable souls with an iron fist. I confess that my greatest dream is to conquer and enslave the entire galaxy. I admit that when asked who my greatest heroes are, I list the most bloodthirsty,...

Endless Space has a lot of potential and manages to differentiate itself from other similar games. Caution is advised, however, as it could do with a lot more balance and a hell of a lot more personality. The former is far more likely to be fixed than...

Endless Space Review

Endless Space is a relentlessly difficult sci-fi strategy game, challenging your intelligence at every turn.

Intuitive UI ; Intricate growth and development systems ; Addictively challenging ; Limitless replay value

Lackluster storytelling ; Occasionally complex terminology

One barrier that stands in your way is the elaborate language used to identify and define various technologies. Words like "epigenetics" aren't common and are bound to leave a few people scratching their heads. You do get a clear understanding of the...

Endless Space Review: That Elusive Quality

Endless Space is occasionally confusing, sometimes frustrating, and completely addicting.

One day in the summer of 1994, my father discovered SimCity 2000. For one very long weekend, he sat almost immobile in his office, watching his virtual city grow. Then, as suddenly as it began, it was over. "I'm too busy. I can't let this game take...

Endless Space is a stellar sandbox entirely at your disposal.

Endless Space is smart, polished and intelligent game of countless permutations. Its strength lies in how carefully and how cleverly it's balanced, as well as how it rewards all kinds of playing styles. We haven't seen a strategy game quite like this...

A well-made 4X that takes no chances -- though it probably should've.

Sleek interface and presentation; good AI opponents; strong ship and faction customization options

Space battles get a little dull; universe lacks personality; heroes are underdeveloped

When I explore and conquer the universe, I expect there to be amazing surprises and sexy green aliens around every corner. And when I play a game about exploring and conquering the universe, I expect it to do a reasonable job of imitating that. It does...

Indie 4X Done Right.

Brilliant interface; Gorgeous space battles and planetary views; Innovative combat system rewards tactics; Endless variety in star systems and planets; Deep, 4-resource economy augmented by 24 specialty resources

Might as well say goodbye to your loved ones

I could honestly write a thousand words more on what makes Endless Space so much more addicting and absorbing than the bulk of its contemporaries. Visually, it's detailed and opulent where it needs to be, yet simple and clean everywhere else. It makes...

Endless Space Review

Endless Space takes its core elements very seriously.

In general, though, it was a pleasure just to watch my empire grow, even if it wasn't doing so in an effective manner, and I think that's what counts
