Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (Multi-Platform) Review

The first DLC expansion to one of the best games of 2012 is now available for download, but is it as good as the original, or just a quick cash grab? Stephen Randle has his review inside!

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a triumph of ridiculous creative energies, and plays just as fun as its incredible concept would imply. The combat and levelling system may not be as detailed or complex as Far Cry 3, but the main elements that made the...

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

That's a shame about the content. I thought the parody nature of it, graphics and 80's retro-ness was so cool.

Action packed gameplay leaves you satisfied; Art style is unique

Although unique, the art style can be painful for the eyes; Enemy AI isn't very smart; Aerial fatalities are sometimes out of your control

The morality issues keep me from recommending this game to others. If you're into humorous over-the-top first-person shooters like Duke Nukem and Bulletstorm, you may enjoy this game. However, for those who would rather play a game that isn't edgy for...

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon review

Satire or celebration? It's difficult to know what standalone Far Cry 3 DLC Blood Dragon really feels about the 80s movies and games it's built upon references to. One minute it'll seem to ooze snark about the macho excess of the unrefined action hero...

80s-spoofing testostersone-fest Blood Dragon's an easy sell if you're the kind of person who laughs along with I Love 1985, but perhaps a little tougher if you prefer satire with teeth.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Review

If you’re a child of the 80s and want to play a game that pokes fun at the modern gaming landscape while throwing back to a simpler time, you can’t go wrong with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon...

Self-referential, reverent and hilarious from its basic presentation to story, acting and beyond; Easy to pick-up-and-play thanks to borrowed Far Cry 3 mechanics; Michael Biehn was a perfect choice; Amazing 80s synth soundtrack; Futuristic animals to...

More variety in the colour of the landscape would have been nice; Island could have been bigger with more specific side-quests instead of generic assassination or hunting missions

Far Cry 3 Review

Far Cry 3 shines in its campaign, which is more layered and compelling than any game proffering a power trip through escapist ultraviolence has any right to be.

Superb story and characters ; A detailed open world ; Tons of enjoyable content

Occasional fiddly missions

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Review

Slightly disappointing, but the compulsive appeal of the parent game carries over and it's nice to play a sci-fi shooter that's not trying to tell a so-called 'epic' story.

Soundtrack is good ; As addictive as Far Cry 3

Not OTT enough ; Not enough mission variety
