Gratuitous Space Battles- PC

Gratuitous Space Battles aims to bring the over-the-top explodiness back into space games. The game is for everyone who has watched big space armadas battle it out on TV and thought to themselves 'I could have done a much better job as admiral'. This...

Gratuitous Space Battles

Not quite necessary, but certainly not pointless

Tinkering with spaceships ; Lasers, explosions, nebulae ; Online challenges

Can't control the battles ; Ship editing system isn't clear ; Hard to tell what works

A worse problem for this game, perhaps, is that you can't always be certain why something worked. And that feeling of bafflement can be quite off-putting.

Gratuitous Space Battles

Usually, most declarations of one game genre or another being "dead" are just hot air. That said, such sentiments are probably closest to truth when applied to space games. Space games are somewh...

Gratuitous Space Battles Review

Gratuitous Space Battles will catch the eye of any science fiction fan who loves watching capital ships blow up.

Beautiful rendering for a top-down, 2D only game; flexible ship customization options; provides a real sense of satisfaction; cheap price is a big bonus

Lack of real-time multiplayer support; no storyline-driven campaign mode

Still, the game retails at ~$20 and offers a far more satisfying level of capital ship space combat than any other game I've seen released over the last year. Given the amount of abuse my favorite kind of genre has seen over the years, I can hardly...

Gratuitous Space Battles Review

The promotional text I've seen for Gratuitous Space Battles makes this independent space strategy game sound like it's got no depth: it "aims to bring over-the-top explodiness", makes fun of diplomacy and resource collection, and shamelessly boasts...

Gratuitous Space Battles isn't for everyone, as its brand of strategy is entirely weighted towards the setup phase - and the execution is almost completely hands-off. Still, the prospect of building your own ships and using your own unique combinations...

Beta spotlight: Gratuitous Space Battles

One-man programming team Cliff Harris is making a hardcore PC strategy game involving giant space ships, lasers, and neutronium giga-plate armor. Today we'll explore this work-in-progress.

Probably my favorite variety of war takes place in space with giant warships, and stuff such as laser beams, torpedoes and fighter craft. You know, space-war stuff.

Gratuitous Space Battles

GamesXtreme checks out some really epic battles in the indie game: Gratuitous Space Battles.

Try the demo first. If you like it, buy it. Otherwise skip it for the time being until its price comes down or it goes on sale.
