Conceiving Commander Shepard

Mass Effect starts out with the usual character creation screen, leaving it up to you to pick main character Commander Shepard’s name, class, appearance and which may be one of my favorite features of the character creation, character background....

Yep, I encountered some stuttering before conversations too, which skipped over that line of dialogue. I'm not sure what's causing it (hardware?), but I kept subtitles on too and it wasn't really a big deal. Post a Comment

There's no reason to miss out on a game as great as Mass Effect, and this PC port is a great example on why patience pays off for us PC-exclusive gamers.

BioWare's space opera comes to PC and is still one of the greatest role-playing games we've ever played.

Strong narrative; tons of galactic exploration; raises the bar for the role-playing genre

Mako handling is still wonky; questionable copy protection; side quests lack impact of main story

Bioware crafts a sci-fi universe that's worth saving

Excellent story ; Energetic combat ; Huge galaxy to explore

Terrible inventory management ; Only one ending ; Mako controls are tricky
