Railroad Tycoon 3

At first glance, this game could seem overwhelmingbut its auto-management tool eases you into your role as chairman of a fledgling railroad. You lay track and determine the types of locomotives to purchase and cargo to haul. Once you have your lines up...

Railroad Tycoon 3

The answer, for most, is instead of nitpicking it to pieces, you do what you can to spread the word that the wait is over and it's worth it: the new Railroad Tycoon, RT3, is finally available! And boy, is it a beauty!

Great basic tutorial for newcomers, in-game help and printed documentation ; New 3D graphics engine makes watching your empire at work more pleasing than ever ; Historical aspects are spot-on impressive, with a wealth of scenarios and maps to challenge...

Level of detail could scare off some newbies ; Almost too easy to get lost in the details ... though that’s not a completely bad thing

If the devil’s in the details, Railroad Tycoon 3 is hell! RT3 has added loads of new detail to the series, so intricate and multilayered it is sure to keep you busy until Railroad Tycoon 4 is released … several years from now!

Railroad Tycoon 3

PopTop steams onto the scene with a product that's nearly everything a strategy game needs to be: easy to pick up and play, but deep enough to engross players for hours and months on end.

Easy to learn, yet deep economic modeling; great editor and multiplayer

Manual lacks depth; very minor interface annoyances

Railroad Tycoon 3

Ever since the very first Railroad Tycoon got released way back in 1990 by Sid Meier and Microprose I've been a huge fan. The ability for kids and indeed grown men to play with train sets without all that messy plywood and plaster board construction,...

Now with 3D graphics ; Added industrial facilities ; More varied maps covering most of the world

A little complicated for complete novices

Where in the first game you have pretty much free reign just choosing the area you wished to start in, for Railroad Tycoon 3 (RT3) as in the last title you have sixteen campaigns/missions to complete as well as the ‘sandbox’ games (which have no direct...
