Rift (PC)

It's a finished product. How many times have you said that about a just-released massively multiplayer online game? In a genre dominated by disastrous bugs and missing features at launch, Rift stands out for the amazing feat of being complete right out...

Rift Review

Rift might just be a real counter to that "other" MMO.

Soul system; rifts are neat; gorgeous visuals

Typical bugs/lag for an MMO launch; quests are a bit dry and samey

Rift Review

Breaking into the world of MMOs is definitely a daunting task. These days, you are inevitably going to be compared to Blizzard's monster, and for good reason. That game is truly a trendsetter.

Rifts add to the gameplay ; Souls add twists to classes ; Extremely polished

Steep learning curve ; Story fades after a while

We may not be in Azeroth anymore, but we're not far away.

Dynamic, active landscapes; deep character customization; stunning visuals; high social interaction

Imbalance concerns; unsatisfying audio; overly derivative

Are you sure we're not in Azeroth anymore?

Most robust MMO launch ever; Huge level of talent customization; Rift events are a sight to behold; Strong start to the lore

that creates lots of balance issues; …but it struggles to hold interest; No third-party mod support

Rift (PC) review

From first sight of Rift's marketing campaign - 'We're Not in Azeroth Anymore' - it's clear that Trion Worlds are aiming Rift directly at the World of Warcraft fan-base. In fact, a quick glance at some of Rift's screenshots might leave you with the...

Takes all the great things of the genre, then adds some

The game has plenty of room to grow, improve, and expand from an amazing start. So I do expect to see some 'out of this world' looking areas eventually, and the linear quests are tolerable, especially if you get into the story of each quest. All in...

The game is easy to learn, and truly takes the MMORPG genre forward. Starting fully featured with all the stuff you will find in any other game of the genre, Trion Worlds threw in a beautiful class system and an impressive world that is ever changing wit

The quests are somewhat linear, and the environments are not mind blowing. The quests generally consist of kill X amount of this, collect X amount of these, or kill some bad guy over there. The environments of each area, while different and neat, are no

Easy transition from WOW, even for the casual player

I will buy it. I am going to try to level as high as I can to see what the cap is so I can tell my friends, but I will buy this game. It loaded much faster than WOW and I went through one quick update.

Better graphics and easier game play make this an interesting game. The free TRIAL game doesnt seem to have many limitations (other than you can't place items into auction) and I have hit level 14 after playing most of the day Saturday. I did encounter s

As a casual player, I need a better HINT system. Mainly to help me as I decide if certain loot is worth keeping. The map is decent, but I am lost in it. Not sure where to go, or where I need to be. I wish we had teleporting abilities from the start, ba
