Star Wars: The Old Republic

Okay, right at the top, I need to run through a list of disclaimers. First and foremost, I'm not a fan of Massively Multiplayer Online games. The things that I value most in games, such as story, depth, characterization, streamlined interface...these...

I almost wish that they had left space combat out entirely and maybe added it in as an expansion pack later (like Galaxies did). That way, they could have seriously devoted time and effort towards it. Instead we are left with this shallow experience...

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Everything looks crisp and clear and should perform well on most systems. The visuals are reminiscent of classic Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, but much more cartoony.

Since The Old Republic is an online game, there are no cheats available for it, but I would absolutely love to be able to explore the depth of The Old Republic at my ease. There are a ton of customization options available if you're able to find them...

Star Wars: The Old Republic Review

A fantastic Star Wars experience mired in an endless sea of generic MMO grinding.

The best new offering of Star Wars content since Knights of the Old Republic. Lightsabres! Sith! Smugglers! great grouping experiences

There are no chances taken here and no real gameplay innovations of note

How does one go about reviewing an MMO, especially one that has been under development for so long and also happens to be one of the most expensive

The Old Republic is a big gamble for Electronic Arts and BioWare, both sinking millions of dollars into the game’s development. I’ve found it to be a great adventure right out of the gate, but it is too early to tell if it will stand the test of time....

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Each class has its own deep storyline to follow all the way to a level cap. That element means leveling up alternate characters has far more value than just providing the chance to try a new class’ mechanics. But it also seems likely to create problems...

Star Wars: The Old Republic Review

Star Wars: The Old Republic isn't the next step in online role-playing games. Instead, it's a highly entertaining refinement of what has come before it.

Outstanding production values capture the vibe of the Star Wars universe ; Companions add depth both to the story and to the gameplay ; Combat is exciting to watch and hear ; Eight fully voiced, branching stories give you a good reason to reach level...

Instancing can make open areas feel empty ; Frequent, uninspired corridor levels ; Shallow space combat is a missed opportunity

Of course, this is an online game, so AI companions aren't the only individuals you have at your side. When playing with others, you participate in conversations as a group, earning a currency called social points as a reward for consistent responses....

Star Wars: The Old Republic Review

BioWare's Star Wars epic is the best new MMO in years.

Engaging, fully voiced storylines; uniquely rewarding companion system; wide variety of worlds; tons of content

Quests are standard "kill and fetch"; imbalanced PvP matches; occasional bugs and unresponsive abilities

See? That's why we gave TOR our MMO of 2011 award. But MMOs aren't just about the first few weeks, so GameSpy is keeping agents embedded to bring you updated reports on The Old Republic and other ever-evolving online worlds. Stay tuned! And for more...

Star Wars: The Old Republic review

A few years ago in a galaxy not very far away, World of Warcraft was hugely successful - here, at last, is the big-budget sci-fi riposte.

Massively ambitious (if uneven) in its attempts to bring singleplayer storytelling into a persistent online world, but massively average in the MMO that lies underneath that, The Old Republic's success is far more modest than its budget promised.

Panda or Ewok? Pew Pew over Warrrgh? It's time to decide, as EA's epic Star Wars MMO is finally available in..

Star Wars: The OId Republic is a good game. It pays excellent homage to the film series (even though it's set before the movies), and is a really solid MMO. The crafting system and the interesting quest lines make it compelling and refreshing to level...
