Syndicate

Back in 1993, Peter Molyneux (ofFable fame) produced a game with Bullfrog Productions called Syndicate. The idea was simple: in the not-too-distant-future you control a squad of four super-soldiers called "agents" whose goal was to sabotage rival...

Unfortunately, I can't comment too much on the co-op, although it's billed as a big part of the experience. I played a couple of the levels with a buddy. They are separate from the campaign but follow many of the same locales. The idea here is that you...

Syndicate

Though the game uses way too much in the way of blinding lights and blues, Syndicate performs remarkably well throughout the experience. The kill animations are cool, and the rest of the world acts realistic and impressively.

The rest of the trainer is your average shooter trainer stuff, instant upgrade points, no reload. It all works -- it's just all expected.

Syndicate Review

Syndicate's cooperative play is undeniably thrilling. Too bad the single-player campaign doesn't reach the same heights.

Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play ; Aggressive AI keeps the pressure on ; Online progression system gives you reasons to return ; Smooth animations and dazzling visuals ; Gunplay and hacking lead to thrills

Weak storytelling wastes the cool setting ; Mediocre, poorly-paced campaign ; Ridiculously oversaturated lighting effects impede gameplay

That all sounds deliciously gory, though in practice, you're not focused on the splattering of brains: you've already moved on to your next target. Some of those targets may require breaching, which is to say, hacking your target's chip. Powerful...

Starbreeze Studios reimagines Bullfrog's classic strategy game of corporate takeovers as a first person shooter. So how is it?

Syndicate

Starbreeze Studios certainly turned heads when it unveiled its progress on a brand-new Syndicate game, although attached to many of those heads were scowling faces sporting sneers of disgust. Syndicate is yet another classic PC game that has...

The expected Starbreeze innovation is only present in half of this shooter remake.

Syndicate Review

Another classic PC game has been given new life. But is that a good thing?

Ability to fully customize and upgrade character; breaching abilities; the Gauss gun

Cliche single-player experience; neglects many basic online features for PC; virtually impossible to complete co-op with less than 4 players

I guess they can't all transition from isometric tactics to first-person action as well as Fallout did. If there's another Syndicate game, how would you like to see it recapture the spirit of the original?

Syndicate review

The subversive 90s cyberpunk classic is reinvented as - surprise, surprise - a first-person shooter.

Syndicate finds a personality of its own in its expansive and more tactical co-op mode, but the singleplayer is a deflatingly humdrum shooter.

Syndicate PC Review

Syndicate has returned to our screens and is nothing like we remember from the good old Bullfrog days. Goodbye isometric tactical shooter, hello FPS corporate gang-bang-athon. Corporations rule the world and you are the latest guinea pig for Eurocorp,...

Solid shooter ; Nice dart mechanics

Syndicate Review

No matter which way you cut it, Australia really missed out on the first best FPS title of 2012. The list of cons seems minor in comparison to Syndicate’s overall win for linear shooter experiences.

Sci-fi setting; Fast-paced combat; The arsenal; Intense firefights; Addictive and challenging co-op; Breaching is badass; Reactive AI; The ‘playing a banned game’ factor

Unnecessary button mashing sections; Bizarre default control choices; Occasional AI screw-ups; Pathfinding isn’t always obvious; Impossible to cancel a reload; Sporadic graphical oddities; Cover fails
