The Ball on PC games

The Tech Demo we all needed

Besides having one of the worst opening plots ever the game is reasonably priced, at 20 dollars, for being a visual masterpiece of a tech demo when compared to other games that used to serve that same niche need-Crysis. While it might be one of the few...

The Ball

Falling down a massive hole during an archeological expedition, you explore a massive tunnel, rather than tend to any injuries (miraculously absent) or wait for a rope to be lowered. Alright, so the onset is a little suspect, but it is serviceable....

Some interesting design bits towards the end ; Nice change of pace from the typical shooter

First half of the game or so is a bit too generic ; Combat largely unsatisfying ; Takes too long to get really interesting

A fairly standard first person action adventure puzzle game that has potential to be so much more.

The Ball- PC

The Ball is a first person action-adventure game featuring a full single-player experience built on Epic's Unreal Engine 3 technology. As a swashbuckling archaeologist working on the slopes of a dormant volcano somewhere in Mexico, you get stuck in a...

The Ball

First-Person Shooters used to always have puzzle sections, whether it be finding the Red Key for the Red Door or some physics based puzzles to create a ramp to continue onto the next area. What Teotl Studios have done is taken this concept and applied...

The Ball

My Anticipation

Innovative and fun core mechanic. Pretty graphics

Takes too long to really get started. Disconnect between puzzle solving and combat

Outside of the pacing issues, The Ball is a very good-looking game, especially at its price point. You get to travel through a handful of unique and highly detailed environments, and the shininess of Unreal Engine 3 is on full display throughout. The...

The Ball Review

The Ball starts out slow and never really gets rolling.

Unusual Aztec design ; Interesting late-game challenges ; Controlling the ball is a breeze

Best moments buried at the end ; Repetitive combat, repetitive puzzles ; Survival mode won't hold your interest

The Ball- PC

Sometimes small developers can provide the only avenue to deviate from dominant gaming fads, even in their very first release. First-person shooters have fallen into a rut of late on the personal computer, what with an emphasis on ultra-realistic...

What with its short Campaign mode (less than 10 hours), bargain price, and Unreal Tournament mod origins, The Ball might seem more like a desktop diversion than a full-retail game. But I consider it a polished, lovable breath of old-school fresh air...

The Ball Review

2010's been a good year for indie developers. Indie games have been doing an impressive job holding their own against the big budget titles and have given us some truly provocative gaming experiences. Hoping to join the ranks of those successful indie...

The Ball is good effort with some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, the good things are undermined by some questionable combat mechanics, a bothersome, half-obstructed first person point of view and a half-baked story concept. The game retails at...

The Ball

Back in the day, before zombies ran wild over today's media, the mummy used to be the king of the undead creature scene. To be honest, I had almost forgotten that they existed until I saw an early preview for Teotl Studios' The Ball, which highlighted...

The Ball Review [PC]

The Ball is a first-person, mostly puzzle-based game in which you use a gun made out of a skull to push and pull a huge, magic ball. You begin by falling down a hole, exploring some caves, and eventually finding the skull-gravity-gun and soon the ball...

Some fantastic puzzles ; Fairly novel concept

Not enough puzzle variation ; Annoying, uninteresting enemies ; Just feels dull

A great concept let down by underwhelming execution. The Ball is never anything like a bad game, but there are precious few truly exciting moments.
