Tortuga: Two Treasures

"My advice is to sail these rough waters with caution, because if you???re not careful you could very well end up depressed and out thirty doubloons."

Tortuga – Two Treasures

Tortuga: Two Treasures isn't the greatest game on the shelf. I know that the publisher CDV isn't going to be too terribly happy with my saying that, especially as the opening sentence. Even though the game may not be “great” it is still quite enjoyable...

Piratey adventure ; Ship to ship combat

Graphics are horribly outdated ; Simplistic land combat

This is a game where the sum of the parts make a fairly satisfying whole. There are a number of small issues that taken on their own are bad, but overall Tortuga - Two Treasures is a fun game to play.

Tortuga - Two Treasures

Ascaron Entertainment is never one to pass up on a good ole Caribbean tale of adventure. The Port Royal, Tortuga, and Patrician series established Ascaron as the gaming equivalent to Age of Discovery-themed B-movie studio execs. They don't churn out...

Tortuga - Two Treasures carries a funny one-liner or two and makes sea combat a fun and triumphant undertaking, even if you're only a one-ship captain. But land-based combat is already relegated to the poop deck and, without serious reworking, should...

Linear storyline stretched to the extreme

The construction of the game is what I would call "a string of pearls". Unlike most other games where you have the freedom to explore the game world, in this game you are limited to a very immediate task at hand, followed by another, and another, and...

Tortuga: Two Treasures

Ascaron's pirate-themed attempt to branch out into the action realm needed a lot more time in drydock.

Beautiful ships; Fun naval combat; Excellent voice-overs and music

Poor land combat; Linear structure; Bad enemy AI; Stealth missions

Tortuga: Two Treasures

Sailing the high seas with Tortuga: Two Treasures, JasonX gives his views on Ascarons new Action Adventure.

Tortuga: Two Treasures takes a great big royal navy broadside and sinks to the bottom of Davy Jones' locker for its trouble, perhaps they might get it right in a sequel.
