Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II

Tails spent his early Genesis days as Sonic’s co-op partner. Dedicated player twos across the world used the sidekick’s flight ability and invincibility to help the hedgehog exact revenge on Dr. Robotnik. Unfortunately, the two-tailed fox...

Tribes: Ascend Review

Tribes might very well be the best free-to-play game to date.

Even with its relatively minor flaws, anyone with even a cursory interest in Tribes: Ascend should play it. No other shooter conveys the same sense of speed – or the rush of pleasure that comes from nailing someone at over 100 KPH – as Tribes. With no...

Tribes: Ascend Review

Invigorating movement mechanics and solid fundamentals make Tribes: Ascend a lot of free-wheeling fun.

Jetpacks and skiing make movement a strategic challenge ; Great variety of classes ; Core combat is exciting and free to play

Experience accrues slowly

If you find yourself enjoying the action, spending even a little money is worth it, as the resulting class variety, loadout improvements, and experience boost are all welcome enhancements. But even if you don't pay up and everyone else ends up with...

An impressive shooter, free-to-play or otherwise.

A lightning-fast, skill-based shooter; everything can be unlocked through playing; rock-solid performance

It's free, but you should consider it a $10 game to greatly enhance enjoyment; middle-of-the-road visuals; could use a balance tweak or two

Anti-friction boots, eh? Sounds like a gadget I could put to good use. But what's with the sniper hate? Pulling off a long-distance headshot while your target is moving faster than a cheetah with a jetpack is all about skill, Sharkey. Would you like a...

It's a beautiful game to play - in the elaborate motion of its tactics as much as its bright, crisp worlds. With a microtransaction economy to fuel, many unlocks and features will follow this release and transform the game for good or ill. But at least...

Tribes: Ascend- PC

Hi-Rez polished and tweaked Tribes: Ascend for months in beta, and the full release shines. Capture and Hold and Raindance are strong additions to an already-strong free shooter, and it makes Tribes: Ascend an even more addictive "just one more match"...

Tribes: Ascend- PC

Tribes: Ascend itself is good to go and well-worth checking out. It promises to have a solid future with new maps and modes, and its handling of free-to-play purchases at least feels fair. It's a great shooter, fantastic multiplayer fun, and while it's...

Tribes: Ascend- PC

Hi-Rez has taken the fundamentals of Tribes and polished them until they shine, but this is no mere rehash. The class designs change Capture the Flag utterly, transforming it into a masterpiece of high-speed tactical manoeuvring that has a niche for...

Tribes: Ascend- PC

It's deep, customizable, and provides a lot of latitude for different play styles. With no risk involved, it's worth taking the time to download it and find out if it's right for you. For some, it will be the best money they didn't spend this year.

It's a minor miracle that a young, independent studio has preserved so much of what made Tribes special, while turning it into a pretty affordable microtransaction-supported game in a new engine.
