The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

I'm probably one of the few PC gamers that didn't instantly fall in love with The Witcher when it came out. From the story to the characters to the combat, it was all just "okay". Even the much-touted "Enhanced Edition" barely made much of a...

I come away from this game with nothing but mixed feelings. Pretty much every aspect starts by exciting you, giving you hope that an RPG is finally going to be all the things you want it to be. But at every turn, it mocks you with "Just kidding!",...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Review

RPG makers, pay attention: The Witcher 2 is going to show you how to do it.

The hero of The Witcher 2 looks like a cross between Edgar Winters and the saxophone player from The Lost Boys. During the dialogue, his delivery is very Christopher Lambert. He has amnesia, of course, and a hawt mage girlfriend. His name sounds like...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings ..

A beautiful RPG sequel set in a grim, brutal, and often revolting world.

A game of stunning beauty; overhauled combat system demands forethought and variety of approaches; excellent, highly variable story and overall resolution; well thought-out skill trees

Very demanding on the hardware side; very demanding on the player to learn the game; mini-games and quicktime events are frustrating; not all story threads seem to come together at the end

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings

This role-playing game features a rough, mean world, but at least it's pretty.

It’s easy to lose yourself in the experience of The Witcher 2. Geralt’s role as detective, exterminator, and hand of justice is just flexible enough to accommodate all types of role-players. Choices peppered about the game let players nudge his...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings review

Western developed RPGs are at an all-time high in quantity and quality. Big names have emerged in the industry, creating franchises like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Fallout and more. Adding to the fray this year is Polish developer CD...

At the time of this writing, the price of The Witcher 2 stands at $36.99 on DVD from Amazon and $33.99 as a digital download both on Amazon and Steam. The prices reflect a sale by both distributors, although the download version comes with numerous...

Right Royal Regicide!

The Witcher 2 is a worthy successor to its elder brother. Compared to what came before, it’s a more mature experience - and a more complete game. PC gamers looking to support the continued evolution their platform of choice owe it to escapism to give...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings- PC

Assassins of Kings' design philosophy promotes quality with individual style, and a very deliberate approach to the genre. There's also a well written storyline with some clever twists and turns, and a level of maturity that doesn't patronize or try to...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings- PC

The Witcher 2 has a game to get to and it can't be bothered holding your hand. [It's] tough, but fair. Consider it the price of admission to one of the most memorable and best written fantasy video games you'll ever play.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings- PC

Rather than creating a character, you're stuck as the brooding, white-haired monster slayer Geralt. Anyone who enjoyed the role last time will be happy to bear with him while the game meanders to its point. Anyone else will need an extraordinary level...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings- PC

The Witcher 2 demands a lot of the player, in terms of both understanding the combat and understanding the plot - but for those willing to put in time and effort, this is a must.
