Yesterday

Yesterday is the latest point-and-click adventure from Pendulo Studios, the Spanish developer behind the Runaway trilogy and The Next Big Thing. Unlike those earlier titles, which were all quirky and humorous, Yesterday features murder, torture,...

Overall, Yesterday is a fine adventure with a unique look, competent puzzles, and a compelling story. The only downside is that it's relatively short. It only took me a little more than five hours to complete the game, and so Pendulo definitely had...

Turns out all its troubles are right here... and they're here to stay.

Reasonably pretty; a few clever narrative moments; unintentional comedy

Awful puzzles; a weak script; a childish story; inconsistent tone; incredibly short

If a game about torture makes you want to pull out your own fingernails, does that count as immersion? Don't ask me. I'd rather listen to a Gitmo mix tape than play this one.

Yesterday's unsteady narrative is disappointingly brief, though solid puzzles and nice visuals make it a pleasant diversion.

Some interesting story twists ; Good array of puzzles ; Lively visuals

Uneven cast of characters ; Disjointed pace ; Inconsistent voice acting ; Ending not timed well

Unfortunately, this is when Yesterday quickly draws to a close. The grim finale comes hot on the heels of the climactic reveal, giving you the sense that things are wrapping up just when they were starting to get good. The characters you've been trying...

Alchemy? Satanists? Grapes? These are some of the questions that plague the hollowed mind of John Yesterday. The last solid memory sustained was waking up in the hospital under the care of Henry White, CEO of the White Corporation. John is advised...

Yesterday has all the right intentions, but it seems to be in a hurry for some unknown reason. It’s worth a gander given its gourmand attention to detail, especially its affinity to pop off plenty of fireworks. But it’s evident that much of the...

Yesterday- PC

My aunt lives on a farm in the middle of the Wisconsin countryside. Like Keepers of the Citadel, innumerable cats run around, performing secret but essential tasks. As needed as they are, no one's taken care of them in years. Once you could wonder into...

While it might sound like Yesterday has a lot of problems, it’s actually quite good for an adventure game. If you’re a hardcore adventure fan, then you’ll enjoy it. Heck, you might even find it too easy. However, if you’ve been raised on a Telltale...

Yesterday Review

I had hope for Yesterday, you know. When I wrote my preview of this adventure I had a few issues but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Let me keep things simple, as lord knows Péndulo Studios haven't: nothing has been fixed, it's only been made worse....

Probably that twist at the end of the first chapter that turned the whole story on its head. So that’s why I felt so ill for the rest of the game.

Last year, Pendulo Studios gave us a romp of the point-and-click variety, with a story full of monsters and dames. The Next Big Thing puzzled and joked its way to a 8.5 score here at Gamer Limit

A dark and twisted comic-book style adventure.

Not only has Pendulo Studios taken a risk with a completely different style of adventure, but they have also focused on innovative storytelling and presentation. Yesterday features slick visuals, perfect voice-acting, and risky storytelling, however,...

Yesterday- PC

More than most other genres, if an adventure's core narrative foundations aren't solid enough to carry the rest of game, everything else is meaningless -- and Yesterday's is a story built on matchsticks and marbles. To play it is to see it come...
