Harman Kardon SoundSticks II

Harman Kardon's SoundStick II PC speakers ($169.99 current list) were released back in 2004, but they are one of those rare species of product that, without changing or evolving, lives for several years and still manages to best much of the...

Affordable. Excellent sound quality. Unique, attractive design. Satellites are adjustable to nearly any angle

No remote. Missing aux input and headphone jack. Hardwired cables

Despite some connectivity oversights, six years later, and Harman Kardon's classic SoundSticks II are still the best 2.1-channel PC speakers you can buy.

Harman/Kardon SoundSticks II review: Harman/Kardon SoundSticks II

Harman/Kardon SoundSticks II

Ultraclear sound quality; unique design; platform-neutral minijack connector.

No headphone jack; no visual indicator of volume level.

The Harman Kardon SoundSticks II match performance with attractive visual design, a combination that always makes our hearts beat a little faster. They're nearly perfect, save for a few design flaws.

Best value 2.1 computer speakers

Reviewers say the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II 2.1-channel speaker system delivers a sharp performance at a very reasonable price. You can crank these up because you'll get no distortion at high volumes. The 20-watt subwoofer, however, can't match...

Clear, detailed sound, affordable, no distortion at high volumes, artistic design

Bass weak on some tracks, highs overwhelming on some tracks, no headphones jack, no auxiliary input port

Review: Harman Kardon SoundSticks II speakers

Long after it original release, Harman Kardon's SoundSticks II remains a standout speaker system. While missing many features found on other computer speakers, the SoundSticks II offers very good sound and an eye-catching design for a reasonable price.

The SoundSticks II is a 2.1 speaker system, which means it uses smaller left and right satellites for higher frequencies along with a larger subwoofer/amplifier component for lower frequencies. Nothing special there. But the SoundSticks II’s curves and...

Review: Harman/Kardon SoundSticks II

Back in the old days, Apple used to include speakers with many of their computers. The problem with these, known as the Pro Speakers, was that they required a special jack, since the computer provided the power. Since there were only two satellites,...

Awesome design, great sound quality, reasonably priced

Limited controls, no headphone jack

The SoundSticks II, although appearing to be more suited to be near older Apple products, still sound and look great with any audio source, and even sound better than similarly-priced products.

Sound Sticks II : Harman Kardon Sound Sticks II

These are a very unusual set of speakers from Harman Kardon a name that often comes up with speakers in notebook computers. However I doubt any other company has ever produced anything like these before.

What you get are a pair of sound sticks each with four speakers and a sub woofer. The first difference is that both the sound sticks and the sub woofer are see through. They look like glass but are plastic. Each sound stick is 25cm tall around 5cm...

Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks II

Perhaps the wild card, but certainly not the joker of the pack, Harmon/Kardon's Soundsticks have been around for a few years now and unlike the other docks on test are not designed specifically for the iPod. The other difference to the other speakers...

Crisp sound, eye-catching design, value for money

No remote, not suited to larger open environments

Review: Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II

Cyborg Jellyfish invade bringing peace and high quality 2.1 audio...

The soundsticks resemble some kind of beautiful cyborg jellyfish and are nothing if not unique.

There really isn't that much to detract from the appeal of these speakers but if pushed there are one or two niggling issues that slightly dent its finish.

Fantastic system, but unfortunately not perfect

A lot of reviewers here have mentioned that they don't know how to turn off the blue light/turn the speaker system off. If the knob in the back of the subwoofer is pushed in it will turn the unit off which will squelch the blue light.

Stylistically there isn't any system that comes close. The clear housing for the components is very pleasing to the eye and the blue light that the subwoofer emits looks great. For day to day use the system sounds terrific and there is no distortion;...

This speaker system is great, though a slightly over-priced for what it is. The adjustments to turn the unit's volume up or down are cumbersome and there is no indication physically of where the volume at. I personally didn't think this would be that...
