Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System

Bose's Companion 5 speakers are great for those who want more from their DVD audio but lack the space for a true surround-sound setup.

The subwoofer delivers nice rumble. Speakers widen the stereo image. Great for desktop or home listening. Wired control has volume and mute button.

"Surround-like" is NOT real surround sound. The satellites are lacking in the mid-high frequencies. Control is wired.

Bose's Companion 5 speakers are great for those who want more from their DVD audio but lack the space for a true surround-sound setup.

Best set of speakers that I have ever owned

The best speakers I even owned and the best 400 bucks ever spent.

knocks stuff off the walls that I didn't feel like dusting ; If you don.t know how to set them up in your comp, you wont get nearly the proper output that these speakers are capable of

Knocks stuff off the walls when I'm really jamming

I have had the Bose Companion 5 now for almost two years now. I have never regretted spending the price for these excellent speakers. Playing games with the surround sound is very good, and is comparable to systems with satellite speakers. The lack...

5.1 Surround sound out of 3 speakers ; Clarity ; Fit and Finish ; Lack of extra rear speakers makes setting these up a breeze

Drivers can be buggy on some older systems ; Lack of support for use with higher end sound cards ; Price

Not worth the Scratch

Should be more like $150... not $400. My dad had these and they just stopped working one day. He gave them to me and said they were still under warranty if I wanted them. I called Bose and they said I would need to send in all components in and wanted...

Sound and appearance are very nice

Not Loud Enough !!! Cost does not equal quality here

It's a great multi purpose system all in one

Its the best all in one computer speaker in the market. I had the companion once but gave it to my long time buddy. I got it for a year and I have to say. The surround sound for movies and games are both impressive. Music is great but limited to the...

Doesn't require expensive sound card to do DVD sound processing ; Simple 3 piece system ; No bass and treble distortion at high volume ; Powerful deep low bass ; Good mids ; Adequate highs

Lacking the Bose typical Live sound ; Music performance depends on the type of genre ; Lacking vocal clarity ; Pricey

I just love them, period!

Got this system 2 years ago and not one thing has changed about how much I love these... they absolutely create magic when viewed movies on... and they can convert whole lot of bad sound to good one.

The sound, the look, the Name, and the bass

could have been with a lot lesser wires

Excellent sound quality, sounds like 5.1, compact setup

Personally, I can't understand how some of the reviews of this product could be so low, based on the quality of the sound or the bass. For me, I have the bass set to about half way, and its perfect. One thing I do not like is that to adjust the bass...

Compact 2.1 configuration but sounds very much like a 5.1 setup when running games in 5.1. Sound quality is top notch, and bass is punchy and clear. No additional software needed (which may be a con for some people). No sound card needed! Solid build

Pricey relative to competitors 5.1 systems

Just not worth the money

I just went to see and try my friend's bose companion 5, because he was bragging about it for the whole week and I wanted to know what is it all about. Frankly I'm quite dissapointed at the performance. I tried listening to songs (Diana Krall,...

Design, Very good staging, Good for games, Feels like a 5.1 speaker, space saving

Sounds are too amplified, too much treble, pricey

Fantastic sound .......

Listened to the 3.1 companion, though they do the same job, these add an extra dimension, if you do plan to buy a set of Bose speakers, pay a 150 $ more and get these. Its a one time investment.

Sleek design, unmatched sound with that extra dimension

At first I thought these speakers were a little over priced, but once I listened to them, they were worth every single cent

Product Specifications

The Companion 5 multimedia speaker system is engineered to deliver the excitement of surround sound content right at your computer - without the clutter of five speakers. Just two small speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module deliver much of the audio performance you'd expect from a five-speaker surround sound system. And a single USB connection is all it takes - no special software, hardware or sound card upgrade necessary. Five-speaker systems are great for your living room or home-theater room. Maybe not for the office, bedroom or dorm room, where your computer lives. Yet, without a way to fully appreciate those breathtaking 5.1 game and movie soundtracks, you're missing much of the fun. Now you can enjoy an enveloping sound experience without enveloping yourself in hardware. The proprietary TrueSpace surround digital processing circuitry enables two elegant desktop speakers and a compact module to put you in the middle of the action. The soundstage seems to envelop you. And the experience is developed especially for computer listening, so your computer is right in the middle of the music, the game, the special effects. The Companion 5 system features a handy, all-in-one control pod to keep speaker volume control, single-touch mute, headphone jack and an auxiliary input all within easy reach. Speakers are mounted on stands enabling superb performance and more usable desktop space.
