Harman Kardon SoundSticks II

Harman Kardon's SoundStick II PC speakers ($169.99 current list) were released back in 2004, but they are one of those rare species of product that, without changing or evolving, lives for several years and still manages to best much of the...

Affordable. Excellent sound quality. Unique, attractive design. Satellites are adjustable to nearly any angle

No remote. Missing aux input and headphone jack. Hardwired cables

Despite some connectivity oversights, six years later, and Harman Kardon's classic SoundSticks II are still the best 2.1-channel PC speakers you can buy.

Harman Kardon SoundSticks

A Marriage of Technologies It comes as no surprise that Apple's clever design team worked with Harman on the unique look of SoundSticks. The first product from this duo was the built-in sound system that comes in every iMac with a slot-load CD or DVD...

Great sound; great looks; easy setup.

Mac support limited to USB-based systems running Mac OS 9.0.4 or later; limited audio adjustments; limited support for Windows.

SoundSticks sound a lot better than you'd expect, considering the low price.

Best value 2.1 computer speakers

Reviewers say the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II 2.1-channel speaker system delivers a sharp performance at a very reasonable price. You can crank these up because you'll get no distortion at high volumes. The 20-watt subwoofer, however, can't match...

Clear, detailed sound, affordable, no distortion at high volumes, artistic design

Bass weak on some tracks, highs overwhelming on some tracks, no headphones jack, no auxiliary input port

Review: Harman Kardon SoundSticks II speakers

Long after it original release, Harman Kardon's SoundSticks II remains a standout speaker system. While missing many features found on other computer speakers, the SoundSticks II offers very good sound and an eye-catching design for a reasonable price.

The SoundSticks II is a 2.1 speaker system, which means it uses smaller left and right satellites for higher frequencies along with a larger subwoofer/amplifier component for lower frequencies. Nothing special there. But the SoundSticks II’s curves and...

Sound Sticks II : Harman Kardon Sound Sticks II

These are a very unusual set of speakers from Harman Kardon a name that often comes up with speakers in notebook computers. However I doubt any other company has ever produced anything like these before.

What you get are a pair of sound sticks each with four speakers and a sub woofer. The first difference is that both the sound sticks and the sub woofer are see through. They look like glass but are plastic. Each sound stick is 25cm tall around 5cm...

Awesome MAC speakers

First off, I'd actually only rate these speakers a 9/10 but there were a few comments on their quality which were very biased and frankly, incorrect. That out of the way, I've had these speakers for the last 2 years and to say that I am very ......

Great fidelity, digital quality, uses USB and leaves the headphone port free

No volume Adjustment or Line out

Still working Great!

I bought mine back in 2002 to go with a PowerPC. Many computers (both Mac & PC) and three moves later, I currently have them hooked up to a Digital Storm gaming PC with Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) and they still look and sound great. My husband...

Great sound ; Great looks ; Long-lived

USB only ; No power button or convenient access to volume control

They look cool; bass is poor

These are way better than the usual PC speakers. But the bass tones are gradually driving me crazy -- there are odd and out-of-tune resonances happening. A classical-music bass drum, for example, will completely put my teeth on edge when played through...

Digitally connected; Cool looking; better than the usual

Strange bass

"Tired design"

Lasted three five years, until my brother cranked them to create a disco in his condo

Subwoofer gets filthy in urban settings, and the inside can't be cleaned
