JBL OnBeat Xtreme

We've always had a healthy respect for JBL's professional audio products. It has consistently built rugged, high-performance PA speakers and monitors for over 60 years and remains a favored brand of many a musician and sound engineer to this day. Its...

Fantastic sound quality both docked and wireless ; Easy Bluetooth pairing ; Excellent remote ; Solid build quality ; Landscape mode for iPhone or iPod

EQ options are not necessary ; JBL “OnBeat” app not necessary ; Speakerphone sound quality not great

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme may look funny, but it is the best all-around iPod speaker docks we’ve tested to date. It offers a great combination of features, sound quality and ease of use.

We've been following the onslaught of AirPlay / Bluetooth speaker systems in recent months, carefully combing through the prospects to find the true contenders. We were recently impressed by Klipsch's Gallery G-17 Air and now we've given the JBL OnBeat...

Stellar sound quality ; Stylish design ; Fast and easy-to-configure wireless connectivity

Top panel is a fingerprint- and smudge-magnet ; Tardy response from on-board controls ; Selecting EQ modes can be frustrating

If you?re looking to throw down some coin on a Bluetooth-enabled dock, this bad boy delivers superb sound quality and no-fuss connectivity.

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme a speaker dock for iPod, iPhone and iPad.

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme is available in the UK for around £399. It's definitely expensive but if you want a be-all end-all audio output solution for your iDevices, then you can't go wrong with the OnBeat Xtreme.

A fun-looking, fun-sounding dock that?s worth every penny of its asking price

Sounds great; lovely design and build; feature packed; wireless works well

Midrange can become hard at high volumes; flimsy device clamps

Quite a large dock but one that packs a real punch with an excellant balance of sound. This is one of the best sounding docks at this price range I have heard, stylish looks and simple controls. I would give it 10 out of 10.
