Logitech AudioStation Express review

Logitech AudioStation Express

The AudioStation Express iPod speaker offers an understated design with a small desktop footprint, and it sounds decent when played at low volumes. It includes some nice extras, such as a padded case, a wireless remote, and a line-in cable.

The AudioStation Express is too boxy to be considered truly travel-friendly. The unit is lacking in bass, and the audio quality is subpar at high volumes.

The Logitech AudioStation Express is a smartly designed iPod speaker that will make a worthy addition to your desk or nightstand, but those who like to blast the tunes should look elsewhere.

Logitech AudioStation Express Portable Speakers for iPod

Most iPod-specific speaker systems we've reviewed have an obvious "reason for being," but Logitech's new AudioStation Express ($130) doesn't, in our view: the company already makes an outstanding portable speaker called mm50 (iLounge rating: A-) with...

A highly simplified, lightweight one-piece portable audio system that resembles a slanted version of Apple's larger, more expensive and more powerful iPod Hi-Fi. Includes a carrying case, remote control, and audio cable, plus adapters for its...

While still good, sound quality and portability are diminished from the company's earlier, only slightly more expensive mm50 speaker system, which includes more than enough extra features to justify the price difference. Requires six AA batteries for...

It really could have been more beautiful if only they included a dock connector port. You really can't find a decent portable speaker system that has complete plugs (a/v out, dock connector port, etc.). Oh well, I'm being an idealist here

Logitech Audiostation Express

Do some impressive audio credentials compensate for the size and weight of Logitech's not-so-portable iPod speakers?

Nicely made and finished. Surprising bass weight. Takes batteries

Gets rattled at volume. Can't recharge batteries. Other portables are more portable

Logitech - Audiostation Express

There's no shortage of speakers and accessories for iPod users, with a range of companies appearing to adopt a strategy of catering for every possible audio environment. Logitech has a fair selection of iPod solutions itself, ...

The Audiostation Express is a great audio solution for the modern iPod user. Even if you don't own an Apple player we'd be tempted to recommend it anyway, particularly when you consider the big savings you can make if you shop around.
