Hands On: AudioQuest DragonFly DAC

AudioQuest's DragonFly soars above its entry-level affordability into high-end sonic territory.

Popular network collaborated with CEA’s TechHome Division on Florida home.

Intro to Digital Audio

I had read about the Dragonfly in Stereophile magazine and was anxious to give it a try. Wow. What was I waiting for... Easy to setup and use. The nice part is I now have a "near-field" audiophile quality system set up on desk.

Super easy step up and worked like a charm

superb dac for the money

An absolutely excellent dac for the money, performing as well as my more expensive home dac/headphone amp that's 24/96 ready. Wonderful performance at home integrated into quality stereo system or on the road with headphones.

easy to use, very useful, high quality

really need usb estender or 'dragontail' for secure use with laptop

Easy to use, does not work with Windows XP

Was fast and easy to use on my computer. Plug and play (took less than 15 seconds and probably close to 10 seconds to be recognized and ready for use). Good sound quality. Solid and well built.Gets quite warm sometimes and I hope that the good built...

Awesome portable DAC!

I had read several positive reviews in audio magazines and no negative ones. Some of them were comparing the Dragonfly to much more expensive portable DAC's. I am really picky about my audio equipment and decided it was worth the $250 to improve the...

It's like listening to some songs for the 1st time

Small DAC with great performance

Music is velvety, clearer and smooth. Really adds to audio enjoyment. The better the speakers connected and the higher the bit-rate, the more pure sound enjoyment the DragonFly delivers.

Dual processing, small form factor, none of the competitor's sudden unacceptable pops and hissing

Would be great to be provided a short USB cord so the unit isn't vulnerable by sticking out the side of a laptop

Unable to get working correctly

I bought the Dragon Fly to improve the sound of internet radio I listen to using iTunes. When connected I got better sound but also loud clicks and pops that made the music unlistenable, I called AudioQuest and they suggested my PC did not have enough...

Sounded OK between the loud clicks and pops

Thumb-Sized Magic

I read once that good design is reached not when there's more to add, but when there's no more to take a away. In the case of the Dragonfly, that's pretty much what they did. Everything about this product is about bare essentials. Every component,...

Graet sound

When I knew about the DragonFlay some month ago, the first thing that interest me was the designer G. Rankin. That simple mention f that name was enough to Try it. When I did it, immediately I was in love whit the sound of the DragonFly. I do not want...

I will chime in with another wow!

I have never spent a lot of money for computer speakers. After using just the built in speakers in my iMac for almost two years, I wanted some better sound. I purchased the Paradigm Millena 2.1 system that received rave reviews. I hooked it up to the...
