The TalkSwitch 244vs is a remarkably easy to use IP PBX that gives SMBs the power of a corporate phone system, but scaling it up is too expensive.
Very compact. Extensive feature set. Easy to set up and manage.
Limited extensions and memory. Unlock codes for additional extensions and memory are pricey. Remote extensions require a separate phone service.
Although the TalkSwitch 244vs gives you a truly uncomplicated IP-PBX system, it has limited extensions, and scaling the system is costly.

VTech's usb7200 Dual Line PC Internet Phone for Yahoo! ($79.95 direct) isn't such a bad handset-once you actually get it installed. The complicated setup process, however, along with a lackluster design (which includes a monochrome LCD screen-how pass ...
Good sound quality. Easy switching between Yahoo! and analog calls. You can add up to three additional usb711 handsets.
Confusing installation. Lacks color screen. You must be signed in to Yahoo! on a PC. No Mac support.
This handset offers good sound quality, but there are Yahoo! dual phones on the market that are far better-looking and easier to install.

Among the raft of VoIP phones I've gotten in lately, the GE DECT 6.0 Wireless Handset for Skype stands out. Not only does it work well for both traditional landline and Skype calls, it comes with two (!) downright snazzy handsets. Despite being ...
Attractive design, color screen, small size, lightweight, good speakerphone
Small size might hamper big fingers; computer must be on and logged in to Skype
The design of the two handsets that come with this feature-packed dual-phone system marks a refreshing departure from the clunky cordless phones we're used to. All the way around, you get a lot for your money.

like a phone, it has an automated softphone on board and supports one Vonage phone line. I was initially quite skeptical, but the phone is surprisingly simple to set up and works quite well.
Small. Device itself is inexpensive and easy to use. Generally good sound and voice quality. 256MB of flash storage memory in addition to phone. Bright orange color makes it a bit harder to misplace than other USB thumbdrives. USB-powered.
Requires it's own Vonage service plan. One-size-that-doesn't-fit-all earbuds. Lack of noise cancellation makes for difficulty communicating in a noisy environment. No Mac or Linux support.
This easy-to-use softphone on a USB thumbdrive is a handy communication tool, especially for those who already have Vonage service.

Once manufacturers discovered that I was reviewing Skype, they wasted no time sending me handsets and gadgets tailored specifically to the service. The first to arrive, the cordless RTX DUALphone, remains one of the most full-featured I've received. ...
Easy to set up and use.
Works only with Skype. Boring gray monochrome LCD.
No more headphones tethering you to a PC when you want to make a VoIP call. This easy-to-install cordless helps you get more out of your broadband connection with Skype, and it works with your traditional landline, too.

Easy to set up and use. Works with several VoIP and VoIM (voice over instant messaging) services.
Lacks dual-phone functionality. Works only with VoIP and VoIM, not POTS. Requires a PC.
This Internet phone makes an attractive alternative to headsets, which keep you tied to your PC.
