Fancy a Skype video phone?
You don't need a PC, battery and Wi-Fi means totally portable, fast startup
Price, doesn't store multiple users, battery life is poor
We loved the SV1 because you can just plug it in, turn it on, and start talking. But when all is said and done, the Asus Eee AiGuru SV1 is just too expensive

Will this keep you connected?
Like other phone manufacturers, Philips are keen to push the ID555 as a green product, pointing out that it has been ecologically designed, with the power pack consuming 50% less than a standard supply, as well as an intelligent regulation of ...

Want a landline phone with VoIP?
Plenty of features, VoIP and landline in tandem, initial setup easy
Poor interface, additional features get too complicated, handset feels a little cheap
As a landline phone it works perfectly well, VoIP is also perfectly easy to use in tandem, but dive under the skin and things just get too complicated

Can this landline phone appeal to the chatterboxes?
Quiet stylish, answer machine, 300m range, plenty of shortcuts to its features
Not many features, mono screen, design not to everyone's liking
The BT Verve comes across basic in its offering, but on closer inspection actually offers plenty

- We've said it before and we will say it again, Skype is great, but the need to sit in front of your computer to make a call can be frustrating and too geeky for some.
No PC required, easy to set up, holds Skype contact book
Handset looks cheap, no answer machine, need to have the phone near your network router
A great handset let down by the lack of answering machine and a cheapish look

- It was only a matter of time before landline handsets started introducing Bluetooth as part of their feature set. First was BT with its rather chav-esque BT Glide, now Siemens has waded in with the rather more stylish looking Gigaset SL565. But is ...
Bluetooth, phone memory, stylish looking, colour screen
Paying for the Bluetooth element, colour screen could have been better, no SIM card reader to transfer over contacts
Overall a good performer for the small office with a price that won't break the bank

- Who says Bluetooth is just for your mobile? BT don't think that either and have launched a new landline phone with Bluetooth built-in. But do we really need it? We get phoning to find out.
Bluetooth, plenty of phone features including the ability to text
Tacky design, expensive
A good solid performance on the technology front let down by a tacky design and the actual question of why you need to connect a Bluetooth headset to your phone in the first place

They always say style comes at a price and boy do they mean it with the Bang & Olufsen BeoCom 2
There is no doubt this is a beauty to behold and to be honest the pictures don't really do it justice. But get past its iconic style statement and what you've really got is a very expensive landline phone.

- In the great scheme of DIY purchases the cordless screwdriver often comes straight after the power drill. It makes many of those common DIY tasks around the house much more speedy and a lot less effort. With a huge range of devices on the market it ...
Tons of attachments, good battery life
Feels flimsy and you can't adjust the torque
A reasonably good basic tool, but only for occasional use

Transfer your mobile phone SIM to the memory, good reception, feels like a mobile
Landline phones should only cost £15 shouldn't they
A landline that thinks it's a mobile, and if that's what you want this is the perfect dog and bone.
