Apple iTunes 8

By Jamie Lendino (pcmag.com)

Custom playlist generation, high-definition video purchases, and a slick album cover view come to the latest version of Apple's benchmark media suite.

Genius feature adds custom automated playlist generation. iTunes Store now offers HD TV episodes for purchase. Diverse media store. Simple network sharing. Tight integration with iPods and iPhones. Nifty (if modest) Visualizer update. Still the only ...

Music subscription service still AWOL. No easy way to rip or transcode video content. Genius's recommendation engine doesn't approach the slickness of the best Internet radio streaming sites.

The software is far too bloated. To run it you also have to download quicktime and bonjour. Which I recently installed, because I never use, and now itunes ONCE AGAIN.

I have an Athlon dual core 5400+, with 2 GB ram. It take almost a minute to launch. Plug in the IPOD and it becomes ridiculous. Running on XP sp3
