Review: Acer Veriton S461 A Performance/Price Winner

From a practical, office-productivity standpoint, the Acer Veriton S461 was a shining star in what appears to be a reinvigorated desktop lineup.

Aver VM460

This is a very economical way to get a computer with XP the XP CD was easy to use and installed it before ever booting into Vista by using the format disk that came with it easy to do

Vista installed in the first place

Good sturdy machines

I've also gotten several of these machines, and other than my problem getting the video upgraded (only tried to on one machine to get dual monitor), I've had no problems with this or the 1GB version.

Reliable, powerful, and fast

Somewhat hard to upgrade the video

Re: Windows XP Disks

Just chill out, the included software installed with the "OEM Branded" XP sticker on the case do constitute a full licensed product. I think you are getting confused with the "system builder OEM" version where you buy the disk, sticker, and manual in a...

This is in response to the post about the XP disks. I have purchased and installed about 30 systems in the last year, XP and Vista, and NONE of them came with any installation disks (several different brands). They all have the restore partition on the...

n/a - I don't have this machine

Awful

It's not worth the headache for me to persue an RMA with Acer as my time is more valuable than the replacement Gigagbyte MB I bought and installed. It's not that I'm disappointed that I got a lemon, it's that there is vitually NO SUPPORT available from...

Cheap at the time

It was flaky right out of the box. Turned out the MB was bad, but it took 2 excruciating months to fail completely. ACER support has to be the worst I have ever seen. Their website (the service side, not sales, of course) is always down

Good Workstation

Nice Computer! Good for office productivity and as a workstation. Added additional video card with no problems, and machine has been running great for a week or 2 now. For the money, great machine

None Really. However, this machine is not intended for processor intensive work (audio and video editing), but works great as a workstation

Good deal for the money IMHO

Haven't tried booting it with Linux yet, so not sure how that will go.

A very good system for the price, not cutting edge, but for the money, a good value ; Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had almost nothing to remove as far as bloat-ware, though when I first started the system, it was installing some things from...

No XP CD, case is a bit cramped, but otherwise very easy to work with. I did have to relocate a wire guide to use the lowest PCI slot, but that was no bother ; The one actual issue I had was the system died after a month, while I was out of the room, I...

Not Bad

None really, I ended up getting a new PSU aswell but that was for other reasons.

Ive had this for about 3 months now, runs great. Ran perfect out of the box, no problems with anything. Price is definatly nice for this

Only comes with 1gb of ram and a single cd burner( who burns just cds now? lol). I ended up upgrading to 2x2gig sticks of ram. Also, this comes preloaded with alot of Acer bloat( its to be expected from most prebuilts though )

Acer Veriton VM460-UD4500P Core 2 Duo E4500(2.20GHz) 1GB DDR2 80GB Intel GMA 3100 Windows XP Professional

Can't get a better computer for the price of this one. Aside from having a really cool looking case, everything works perfectly

Only 1gb of RAM (2 x 512), but I upgraded to 2gb and the improvement was well worth the money
