Acer easyStore H340

Acer's entry-level easyStore H340 gives you everything you need to attach a robust Windows Home Server to your network, with plenty of room to expand. Its technical specs edge out HP's comparably-priced LX195—both are budget servers equipped with a...

Better value than HP MediaSmart LX195; four swappable drive bays; one-touch USB backup

Included software is pretty basic

One other notable feature is a one-touch USB backup button. Plug any USB hard drive into the front of the server, push the button, and the H340 automatically copies all of the files into the Public Shared Folder. It’ll also sort the files based on file...

Acer Aspire easyStore H340

U.S. consumers have been limited to two choices when it comes to deploying a Windows Home Server machine: They could roll their own (from scratch or by repurposing an existing computer) or they could buy one of HP's MediaSmart models. Now there's a...

Fast; quiet; excellent price/performance ratio; large hard drive; lots of room for expansion; one-touch server back-up

Can't back up Macs; not as polished as HP's MediaSmart servers

Acer's new home server is a compelling value, even if it doesn't have as many features as HP's MediaSmart line.

Acer Aspire easyStore H340

The Acer Aspire easyStore H340 is a network storage device that supports up to four terabytes. Yet, it is quiet and small enough that it can fit on a home office desk, and you won't know it's there. The H340 NAS uses only the basic features of Windows...

Simple to use Windows Home Server interface

Networking nightmare if your PC cannot detect NAS with UPnP. Remote access difficult to setup

The Acer Aspire is small, quiet, and inexpensive, but not really for the layman with no networking chops.

Acer Aspire easyStore H340 Review

While the concept of servers is definitely not new, using them within the confines of the home definitely is.

Versatile ; Easily expandable ; 2GB RAM

WHS connector can be finicky ; Mysterious 'i' is vague

Reading around the internet, reception of Microsoft's Windows Home Server is favorable overall, with some users going so far as to say that it's the best product they've put out next to Windows itself. Frankly, I'm inclined to agree. The software is...

Acer Aspire easyStore H340-H review

Acer is better known for its laptops than its NAS devices, but the Aspire easyStore is the latest in the company's line of network storage devices running Microsoft's Windows Home Server (WHS).

Despite a couple of flaws, Acer's Aspire easyStore is a fast, easy to configure and good-value network storage device.

Acer Aspire easyStore H340 review

The Acer Aspire easyStore H340 is fairly pricey, but it's a good solution for less technical users looking for a way to centralise or back up their files

Quiet operation ; Four easily accessible drive bays ; Very easy to set up

No obvious way to uninstall the McAfee antivirus software ; No RAID support

Conclusion The Acer Aspire easyStore H340 isn't the cheapest NAS box on the market, but it is one of the easiest for novices to set up and use. Its read and write speeds are good, and it's very quiet when it's up and running. As a result, we think it's...

Acer easyStore H340 2TB

Sporting an Atom CPU and running Windows Home Sever, the easyStore H340 isn't just your average NAS.

The Acer easyStore H340 is keenly priced and well featured. Windows Home Server's simple initial setup process belies its underlying capacity to be hugely customised by a willing user. NAS devices are so 2009, what you really want is a home server.

Acer Easystore H340 2TB Nas box

Solidly built Nas box with the home media enthusiast in mind.

So if you need a NAS solution which is built to withstand a tactical nuclear strike, holds four disks, has six expansion ports and interacts well with most popular devices, then keep your attention focused on Acer’s Easystore H340. However, the lack of...

Acer easyStore H340

The boxy easyStore H340 is Acer's first home server appliance - but in use it feels like a mature, professional device. Behind the glossy front panel sit four screwless drive bays, three of them hot-swappable (the bottom one is the system drive) and...

Not the most energy-efficient server, but well specified and comparatively affordable

Acer Aspire easyStore H340

This is a great server. I found one at approximately 25% off at during one of their weekly ads. Others have touted deals at NewEgg. So, shop around. Regardless, an incredible value. True, it may not have all the flair of the added HP...
