Acer Aspire iDea 500

Great design, Reasonable performance

Hard disk size

Acer has done a great job of disguising this PC as a set-top box. It's easy to setup and simple to use. We would highly recommend waiting for the Core 2 Duo refresh before purchasing this product. However, if you need something right away it will still...

Acer Aspire iDea 500 review

A media centre that thinks it's a DVD player...

Looks great ; plenty of connections ; no messing about

Limited expansion options ; not suitable for high-end games

An interesting attempt that may have rivals sitting up and taking notice

Acer Aspire iDea 500

It's safe to say that early experiments in media centre PCs weren't entirely successful. Large, hideous, beige machines with loud fans⬦ But Acer has come to the rescue.

The Aspire is affordable, attractive, discreet and equipped with a full array of connectors. It's the closest we've come yet to the ideal media centre PC.
