Review: Acer's Predator is relatively toothless

Don't let the aggressive design fool you: This gaming rig is a pussycat, not a tiger.

Powerful CPU ; 32GB of memory ; Slide-out drive tray with SATA connections

Weak video card ; Just one x16 PCIe slot ; Relatively poor gaming performance

The Predator just isn't as ferocious as Acer would like us to think it is.

Acer Predator AG3620-UR12

The Acer Predator AG3620-UR12 desktop won't wow you with performance or impress anyone with its style, but it does offer modest performance for the budget-conscious gamer.

Affordable price. Intel Core i7-3770 Quad-core processing with 32GB of RAM. AMD Radeon HD 8760 graphics. Giant 2TB hard drive with 16GB flash cache. Lots of USB ports available

Bland looks. Bundled keyboard and mouse are lousy. Limited upgradability

Plenty of mainstream PC makers have tried to get a foothold in the gaming market, to limited success. Dell bought their way into the gaming world by purchasing Alienware, and Asus has made strides with their Republic of Gamer's Line, but most major PC...

Acer Predator AG3620-UR12 Review

The halls of gaming are adorned with the names of niche brands like Alienware, Falcon Northwest and Origin. This is actually a bit strange – after all, large companies have managed to conquer every other section of the PC market. Yet gamers still seem...

Accessible connectivity ; Strong processor performance ; Cool, quiet operation ; Low power consumption ; Inexpensive

So-so build quality ; Difficult to upgrade ; Poor peripherals ; Merely adequate game performance

Acer has constructed a middle-ground system that’s palatable for gamers on the budget but doesn’t impress.

Acer Predator AG3620 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the new Acer Predator AG3260 gaming PC. While “gaming PC” and “Acer” may not be two terms you immediately associate with one another, Acer has impressed in the past, and is now looking to wow consumers with its...

If you’re a PC gamer primarily for the amazing graphics that are achievable, it’s probably best to look elsewhere. Naturally, if it’s top-tier graphics quality you want, you’ll probably be building your own rig, and the Predator was never targeted at...

Acer Predator AG3620-UR21P

The Acer Predator AG3620-UR21P looks like a gaming computer, but don't be fooled?it's better suited for more serious processing tasks.

Decent all-around performance. Includes hefty multithreading processor, lots of RAM. Utilizes SSD for speedy booting and program launching

Less-expensive computers perform better in many areas. Middling discrete video card

This week we've got our hands on the orange and black beast of a gaming desktop computer known as the Acer Predator AG3620-UR21P. The build we've got comes with a beastly set of hardware, starting with the new Third Generation Intel Core i7-3770...

The unit we’re using here will cost you a cool $1199.99 from Acer’s online store and it is indeed in stock right now. Head to our timeline below as well to check out additional Acer reveals and hands-on experiences we’ve had in the past couple of weeks!

Acer Predator G3620_H review

On the "wrong" side of the ledger, the Predator has an AMD Radeon HD 8760 video card (the OEM version of the milquetoast Radeon HD 7770), a chintzy custom motherboard with just one PCIe x16 slot (occupied), and a miniscule 16GB SSD that serves as a...

The Predator is a better-than-average family PC, but hard-core gamers will find it to be weak tea.

Not the best

Poor quality compared to my last Acer.Acer replaced mine & the new one has the same problem...won't run more than 2 usb 3.0 drives, spent $200 on a bigger power supply now it runs 3

Be mindful of Secure boot

Overall it is an outstanding computer. However, when attempting to upgrade from the GT 630 video card to an hd 7950. It wouldn't display video thru the 7950 because there were no signed drivers on the computer yet. Once I disabled Secure boot in the...

It's Fast and Quiet

I'll say it again. This machine is very fast and it's quiet. Also the sound and video are excellent. I would recommend this machine to anyone. And also recommend purchasing the recovery disks. The draw back is Windows 8. In a nut shell is 3 steps Ast...
