excellent value for money

i wanted a small quiet tower to produce music on. I wanted something that was cheap, but not tacky. Why pay £1000 for an Apple or a Sony, when this does all you would need. I am not knocking Apple, I am typing this on a MacBookPro, but ... Expand full...

quiet, lots of connectors, small, black

optical drive awkward

Bought two and said goodbye to Direct TV

In summary of this exceptionally long but hopefully helpful review: If I wasn't still on the same budget I would by another to replace the older Compaq that's taking up too much counter space in my smaller kitchen but unfortunately it still works. I...

Working on my budget I noticed that I was spending over a thousand dollars a year for four rooms to regular TV and had nothing to show for it in the end. Bought the first one on a dare to myself on black Friday '10 and the second one in January '11 and f

With all those pros there have to be cons: 1. As for-mentioned by others the NIC card may hang, no big deal. It only takes about 1:35 min to reboot (after you remove the bloatware in the start up). 2. As with all manufactures there will be bloatware

best bang for your buck but your NIC might get stuck...

Great computer for the price. I will continue to buy this for anyone who was using it as a normal desktop or workstation. The NIC card issue could be particular to this unit so I don't want to cast a dark could. The computer is a small beast with ......

Great overall computer. Fast processor, adequate RAM and large hard drive. This computer is being put to good use as a SMB 2008 server and I also used it as a desktop for a bit. It worked well in both capacities

Only complaint is the on board Network Card. Upon plugging in the network cable I was not able to receive an IP address. On the SMB 2008 side I had to load a driver but I would never expect this computer to be a server without a Geek configuring

Simple and easy to set up

Value for money desktop with good expansion abilities; and backing up system and data files onto an external drive ought to be common practice - overall, excellent value (and I snagged a shelf display version for $300 total).

9 USB ports and maximum 8gb memory with Windows 7 plus adequate 650 mb hard drive = sufficient machine for most purposes

DVD open switch needs hard push; installing additional memory not a simple task

Acer's support process impacts its rating negatively.

This desktop was easy to start up and commence addition of software. It will be a satisfactory addition to the home network. A problem with operation of the opening mechanism for the optical drive requires pressing several times to find the right place...

Compact, attractive, general purpose machine. Easy to get up and operating

Disappointing technical support process, difficult addition to existing LAN, poor optical drive access visibility and function

Almost a Gateway.

The case has a conservative look. No garish light to upset the cnet reviewers.

Quiet ; Current model, good availability, competitive pricing ; Almost the same specs as a higher priced Gateway

The WiFi hung my computer while trying to configure it with 'ceni' in aptosid linux ; The WiFi may have caused kubuntu to hang during shutdown

Damn Acer

I bought this computer just for light use in my home. The computer does have problems with some fan noise and DVD Drive in the CPU, Emailed Acer Customer service many times. But no response. Called them again, They want $99 before they listen to you.

One Five Star, One two star

I have two of these that I purchased from the same vendor (not Amazon) a couple of weeks apart. One of them is still working perfectly - after several months - I don't remember exactly how many, less than a year. It is quiet, powerful, easy to move,...

In use daily, all day

My computer is fully set up and in use all day. I use a lit keyboard. The computer is normally very quiet but when under load, one hears the main drive chugging away. I also watch videos and again the drive can be heard when at speed.I have experienced...
