AsRock Vision 3D HTPC Review

We find it a bit mind-boggling that home-theater PCs don't generate much interest among mainstream consumers. These machines offer so many features, and most people are already familiar with the Windows interface. Luckily for we enthusiasts,...

Expensive. No TV tuner. Exposed ports on front panel

ASRock Vision 3D 252B HTPC Review

When we first took a look at the ASRock Vision 3D 137B with NVIDIA 3DTV Play last year, we were quite impressed with the machine. It offered excellent all-around performance for a system in its class and had an extensive feature set that included...

Great Performance ; Small Form Factor ; Quiet Operation ; Flexible Connectivity Option ; Good Looking

Pricey ; Higher Power Consumption Than Fusion or Atom based HTPCs

The ASRock Vision 3D 252B performed very well throughout our entire battery of tests. Its performance in comparison to the other HTPC and low-power systems we tested was excellent and power consumption was somewhat lower than the previous-gen Vision 3D...

Asrock Vision 3D HTPC

If a study was conducted about the frequency of utterance of the word “boredom” over the years, I am quite sure that it has been mentioned less in 2011 compared to any year since recorded history. New “Super Phones” are replacing the Smart Phone of...

Sleek and attractive design ; GT425M GPU with 7.1 HD audio bitstreaming ; Stereo 3D Media Playback and 3D Vision gaming capable ; IR based MCE remote control (with dual CR232 battery included) ; Plenty of USB ports (3 x USB 3.0 and 5 x USB 2.0 ports) ;...

Fan gets very loud at CPU intensive tasks, like encoding or heavily CPU dependent games ; Clearance for extra 2.5" drive is very small ; Price

Although there is space to attach an additional drive on the motherboard, looking at the drive mounting plate begs the question, how and where can you exactly add this drive? The clearance is very narrow and the bottom drive has to be screwed in place...

ASRock Vision 3D HTPC Review

Today ASRock are back with their latest mini-PC, the Vision 3D. Based on Intel's H55 chipset and NVIDIA's Fermi based GT425M graphics this model gives consumers a simple way to add a Blu-Ray 3D based HTPC to their home cinema. Today we put that system...

As with any hardware which is cutting edge the Vision 3D isn't cheap but ASRock provide some exceptional performance and features for this price. They haven't skimped on components used and all are quality branded parts. All of this combines to create...

This thing is smaller and quieter than an xbox. I did replace the stock WD 2.5" 750G HD with a 256G SSD. I'm running Media Center on this for my primary TV and using a Silicon Dust 6 Tuner HDTV Cablecard receiver (also NewEgg, rocks) ; It's very...

The first unit I got was defective. The video wouldn't come up consistently on each boot making it unusable. RMA'd fine, but then they were out of stock so I had to wait several weeks for it to become available again. Glad I waited

Solid HTPC platform

Stand-alone XBMC install from the live CD would not run "out of the box" - I think it probably did not have the video drivers. Running XBMC in Windows 7 to ensure full support of all features and thats working beautifully. Replaced the 750GB HDD with a...

Compact, stylish, build quality seems quite good, BIOS is pretty? Pretty much a PC in a small package (look at the specs what hardware you're getting and you'll get it) - nothing more to say here

Sometimes (very rarely), it does not find the hard drive on startup, but if you restart, it will find it - I did not update the BIOS yet, so this may be fixed already. I wanted to use the GeForce GT540M GPU exclusively, but it seems its a some sort of...

Great!!!

Installed Win7 64bit runs smooth.

Very nice build, quiet, lots of newer tech e.g. USB3, eSata port ect.... Dedicated Nvidia GPU with 1GB VRAM

Some may find it a con, but I didn't realize that this doesn't ship with an OS. So make sure you order one before you get it home to find a blank screen
