nifty unit

(Once powered.. see Cons) Took 4gig ram upgrade with ease. Didn't have to do a BIOS update :D and said BIOS was easy enough to set for USB boot for a real Linux install. Prompt shipping

Mounting base has no attaching screw. Nor are the screws included for the vesa mount. Shipped with a eee BOOK power adapter. Not only wrong adapter on the unit side but had the UK prong cord. This shipped from a US warehouse in NJ. Any checks on these?...

Worth the price

Good value. I'm using it as a DVR viewer and it's the perfect size and best price

Original linux distro is very slow and limited. Pretty sure you are meant to install a real OS. F9 doesn't work although the manual says it should ; Had trouble installing XP. Something about a hal.dll error I couldn't figure out. Ended up installing...

Great for basic internet and email use.

Small and compact. Can mount on back of monitor. Works better with Windows 7. It's a great little pc for basic internet, email, and MS office use. Dont expect this to be some powerhouse computer

A little slow with Windows 7, but upgraded memory to 2GB and works much better

Very Good

do not waste your time for usb boots. just get a external cd/dvd reader ($19.00) than get a windows xp pro cd and plug in to this thats it. bios boots from cd/dvd reader first. format the harddisk, install the windows xp.. than watch this little boy.....

very fast ; cool working ; plug and play ; cheap ; slim and small, perfect for office solutions

noting so far

Great Product

Easy to reformat and install windows XP on ; Quick boot time ; No noise

Would be better if there were more USB ports, preferably in the back

Great Complement to my Eee Netbooks

I have 2 Asus Eee 1000Hx netbooks. This product is a natural extension of the versatility of the Atom platform to perform run of the mill computer tasks. I plan to do a Linux install on my old desktop and give it to one of my kids!

Bought to make my first departure from MS Win OS. Mint 11 loaded easily! Wasn't too difficult to get this machine up and running even with no previous Linux experience. Eee Box has the usual great ASUS build quality. Virtually dead quiet. Added...

The supplied and Asus web site documentation is severely lacking. A little bit of a challenge to open the box to upgrade the memory

Great, Inexpensive Ubuntu Box

I have always been pleased with my purchases of ASUS hardware. This unit is no exception.

Inexpensive ; Ubuntu easily installs (10.04 LTS) ; Free from MS Windows ; Cleanly mounts on back of monitor for clutter-free installation ; Performance more than sufficient for web surfing, e-mail, Skype, documents, etc. Customers should not expect 3D...

Existing Linux installation is slow and not very effective. I recommend replacing this with your favorite OS immediately

Excellent little box

I bought this desktop, along with a USB to Serial adapter, to replace a security server in the office server closet that runs WinXP Pro and a custom application. Power consumption was the biggest consideration (to extend UPS time), and this absolutely...

Small, extremely low power, inexpensive but not cheap build quality (somewhat heavy for its size), decently fast, lots of ports (6 USB, audio, eSATA, SD card), tiny power brick

Slightly larger than I expected, preloaded OS is slow and useless, included keyboard/mouse are horribly cheap

I am very happy with the unit.

It's a fun little unit to play with. It's basically a laptop without a monitor. I upgraded the RAM to 4GB and installed Linux Mint 10 64 bit. Linux Mint installed fine for me using a USB DVD drive. It runs real well for a $200 computer

It comes loaded with a real stripped down version of Linux, which would be okay for people just browsing the internet, uploading pictures and playing a few games ; It took me a while to figure out how to get the side off to upgrade the RAM to 4GB. That...

Great Little PC

Over all, this a great little PC. The built quality is excellent. This model is limited but just spend a bit more and you'll get a dual-core atom processor, HDMI, more memory and the Invidia ION video processor.

Compact size and quiet ; Tested different operating systems successfully ; Ubuntu recognized all the hardware on install ; Windows 7 required a few drivers but found them easily on the ASUS website ; WTWare, thin client OS, ran flawlessly ; Low power...

Does have its hardware limitations which are expected ; OnBoard Video is inadequate for videos but fine for everyday office apps ; Had errors installing operating systems via USB CD Rom, successfully installed them via a USB Flash drive
