Asus EeeBox EB1501 Review

Like the netbook, the nettop PC has a cute look to it that makes it easy to envision sitting anywhere from sitting on a desk to next to an HDTV. Asus, the manufacturer that inadvertently started the netbook craze, is betting that there is some...

Sleek and refined design fits any décor ; nVidia Ion helps make high-quality video and gaming possible ; HDMI output for video, eSATA port for fast external hard drive access ; Useful remote included ; Windows 7 Media Center provides easy DVR...

Expensive relative to competitors ; Can’t handle all HD video ; Intel Atom still anemic ; Hit-and-miss gaming capabilities ; Too much bloatware ; No built-in TV tuner

A slot-loading DVD drive sets Asus’ EeeBox 1501 apart from the nettop pack, but a high price and spotty HD playback keep it from being the ultimate home theater companion.

Asus Eee Box EB1501

Nettops like the $475 Asus Eee Box PC EB1501 aren't meant for getting work done. Instead, they promise an end-around to the closed environment of your cable box, opening up your living room to the near-infinite amount of content available via various...

Clean, understated design.

Can't play 1080p QuickTime files smoothly; caught in an uncomfortable pricing middle ground between cheaper Web-enabled Blu-ray players and slightly higher-end slim tower PCs; weak tech support.

We like the looks of Asus' Eee Box EB1501, but it's pricier than Blu-ray players that stream content from the Web, and not as powerful as slightly more expensive slim tower PCs that offer significantly more speed and power. Asus made a decent attempt...

Asus Eee Box EB1501P-B016E

The EB1501P-B016E comes with a DVD burner, and a 320GB 5,400rpm hard drive, which is a little small (and slow) for a multimedia system. I'd like to see at least 500GB so it can hold larger video files, even if it doesn't have a TV tuner. I should also...

Compact. Quiet. Wireless everything. USB 3.0 and eSATA. Includes VESA mount

Only 90-day subscription to Trend Micro Anti-virus. Overactive Firewall. Small 320GB hard drive. Some bloatware. No Blu-ray. Card reader only supports SD/MMC. No TV tuner

A compact desktop PC is one of the most convenient ways to get your digital photos, videos, and other entertainment up on the HDTV in your living room. Though slower and somewhat "stripped" compared with rivals, the Asus Eee Box EB1501P-B016E is a...

Asus EeeBox PC EB1501P Review

Asus is out to prove that big things really do come in small packages with its EeeBox PC EB1501P. This nettop offers an array of I/O ports as well as a slot-load optical disc drive and the ability to play content from your own media library in Full HD....

Thin design ; Stays cool ; Two USB 3.0 Ports

No Blu-ray drive ; Lackluster gaming performance

Asus set out to prove that you can get impressive performance from a small nettop such as the EeeBox PC EB1501P, particularly in the form of high-definition video output. Thanks to NVIDIA's next generation Ion graphics and dual-core processor, the...

ASUS EeeBox EB1501 Review

ASUS made waves a few years ago by creating the netbook category with the first Eee PC.

Small ; Doesn't use much electricity ; Can decode 1080p content

Vampire power ; Stutters on some HD Flash ; Pricey for feature set

In all, the Asus EeeBox EB1501 proved to be a capable little box, though it's still a nettop at its core. The dual-core Atom which powers the box is enough to handle day-to-day office tasks and low-powered computer activities such as web browsing,...

Asus is the BEST choice for PCs

This is my 4th Asus (2 Laptops and 1 NetBook). So far I am extremely happy with this brand. Mr. Shih is one of the greatest OEM owner and hope he can continue his innovation over time! I am glad to move from Sony to Asus (save Big $$$) and if you...

Setup was super easy, less than 50 mins for me to complete. The real pro for this Eee PC NetTop PC is a preloaded Win 7. Also, the nice thing is the built in CD/DVD option so you can quickly load any other software if needed without finding an external...

Nice if it has dual boot for Android 4.x or the old Asus Express Gate (Linux OS)

big noise from cd rom

small and quiet

if you use cd rom, big noise come out, terrible ; bought one 2 years ago, no cdrom version, good and stable, not this one

Nice basic system

System is nice for email and net stuff. I would consider 4G (2Gx2) memory for any real activity.

Quiet system, little mallware, compact

Memory was 1 simm, not 2 as indicated. I was upgrading to 4G anyway as I had it laying around. So the performance is much better with both slots active. Ripping CD's from the DVD drive is a chore. I usually have error correction turned on and get like...
