Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 and the Gateway DX4300-15e

Moving up in our desktop reviews from Friday and Monday, today's pair of desktops hits the $650 to $700 range. At this price point, you can get some respectable bang for your buck, as you'll see when we take a look at the Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 and...

Perhaps the only major down side with the CG5275-AR003 is its lack of integrated Wi-Fi. For its price, one would hope that wireless networking would come standard. If you hope to have this feature, you will have to upgrade later yourself

Update dec-2011

I have had this reconditioned Asus PC for about 16 months, starting in Nov 2011 one memory board after another started to fail. So far 3 of the 4 memory sticks have failed. I have heard about bad batches/runs of memory, but have only experience a...

Looking for a gaming machine for cheap?

I've had the machine for about two years, nothing has broken, and with an old 9800GT 1GB video card added it still runs every game at mostly high settings. I've been quite happy with it so far.

I did not purchase from Newegg, and mine was new, not recertified. I've had this machine now for around two years ; This machine will work very well as-is for basic use, but it's powerful enough that a gamer on a budget can buy this, slap a basic $100...

I don't see it listed on the specs page, but the power supply is a 400W. If you want to upgrade this machine beyond a mid-grade or previous generation video card, you will want to look into buying a new PSU

Going to buy the ASUS Essentio CM5675-07 Intel Core i5 650(3.20GHz) 8GB DDR3 -- Hope it works !

Great Specs for the price. WOULD have made a good desktop

BSOD as soon as I plugged it in. After updating drivers and running tests I decided to just exchange it for a new one. After i sent it back to newegg it took about a week for them to refund my money and said that they were out of stock. Bummer - wish...

I would not buy this unit or any ASUS puter w/o an extended warranty. IMO they are a great board mfgr , but lack retail savey. Service is not there forte.

Worked right out of the box. I put it thru its paces for that last couple of weeks. Shutting-down/rebooting/checking the 1TB disc/burning and reading cds and dvds/installing and running diagnostic tools/ethernet conn/etc,etc . It also comes with a card...

I ran into no issues with this unit. Never-the-less,I did buy the 1yr 3rd party extended warranty that Newegg offers when I ordered it just for peace of mind. I hadn't seen any ASUS 800 number which one could call to report a problem or ask any...

ASUS Essentio CG5275-AR003

Tower turned on just fine and booted up without a problem. I tried to open the unresponsive dvd drive and only after reading the reviews (thank you everyone), figured out that it probably wasn't plugged in. What QC team would ever let that happen? So I...

Great machine for the price, huge case that can handle almost any upgrade, 16GB expansion is very handy, plenty of USB ports, integrated card reader, windows 7 (meh)

The keyboard and mouse look and feel cheap, no wireless card, the i5 650 is not a true 8-core and probably shouldn't be represented as such. Even in the system review it shows 4 cores, and that is a stretch. Also, buying a refurb and trying to get tech...

Overall I would have given this 5 eggs but the DVD power cable was not plugged in to the drive. It was a real quick fix other than that I have no problems with this amazing DEAL!

Product Specifications

Powered by the latest Intel Core i5 Clarkdale processor with Intel HD video technology and a 8GB DDR3 memory capacity, the ASUS Essentio CG5275 brings you astonishing visual enjoyment with surreal graphics courtesy of a dedicated DirectX 11 graphics card with a maximum 1G VRAM, as well as the massive storage capability of a 1TB hard disk drive for games, videos, movies and other data. With the Q-Fan cooling system, users can now work in a distraction-free environment with minimal system noise. This unique technology, which intelligently and automatically adjusts CPU fan speeds according to system load and temperature. Hence, the cooling fan is not constantly running at top speed, prolonging the life cycle of your cooling fan while conserving battery power. CG5275 features exclusive ASUS EPU - the world first power saving engine, which provides total system power savings by detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power in real-time. With auto phase switching for components, the EPU automatically provides the most appropriate power usage via intelligent acceleration and overclocking - helping save power and money. In minimalist design, form follows function. ASUS Essentio CG5275 reflects this philosophy with its tilted form which facilitates the entry of cool air to the chassis from below. This improvement allows the fans to spin slower and keeps noise to a minimum. As well as being cool on the inside, Essentio CG5275 is cool to the touch with its anodized aluminum bezel and steel chassis. These carefully selected materials and finishes ensure that it will look great in any modern interior.
