Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003

Editors' note: This review is part of our 2010 Retail Laptop and Desktop Spring roundup , which covers specific fixed configurations of popular systems found in retail stores.

Excels in single application and multitasking performance tests; massive case gives plenty of room for upgrades; ample motherboard connections; power-efficient.

Lacks wireless; quad-core HP system is faster in multithreaded applications; uniquely designed tower not for everyone.

If you don't mind its massive, distinct case, the Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 offers a compelling set of features and enough room inside to satisfy upgraders. Hard-core media hounds can spend less on a competing HP system, but few systems challenge Asus...

Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 and the Gateway DX4300-15e

Moving up in our desktop reviews from Friday and Monday, today's pair of desktops hits the $650 to $700 range. At this price point, you can get some respectable bang for your buck, as you'll see when we take a look at the Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003 and...

Perhaps the only major down side with the CG5275-AR003 is its lack of integrated Wi-Fi. For its price, one would hope that wireless networking would come standard. If you hope to have this feature, you will have to upgrade later yourself

"Great computer for the dollar"

Overall, if one takes all of the components and goes to the sites where the CG5275A003 had been tested, you will find that they put a good system together at ASUS. If you want to upgrade to a i7 chip you can. I replaced the graphics card with a Nvadia...

3.2ghz, 8gb, 1TB, wonderful package without alot of trialware, real fast and I like the oversize case and the way it slopes back. It has a lot of room for additional components.

I had to trim the ears off the plastic hinges on the top door which allowed the door to open to 110 degrees, which allowed me to use the bottom USB slots, to use flashdrives. The computer freezes at times but always resets itself after unplugging, let it

Excellent system for an excellent price.

For the money, you will not find a faster, more robust box. Processor, RAM and hard drive space are outstanding. The lack of extra crap software to bog down the system was the final selling point for me. I'm very pleased and will consider Asus when...

Excellent speed, graphics and sound. This system doesn't come with alot of "bloatware" to bog down your computer. Tons of USB connectors. Extra headphone and microphone connector in the front

I had to buy an adapter to add my IDE hard drive as this unit does not have IDE connections on the motherboard. I've had no other issues. I've read stories of refurb units with parts not connected, but my refurb unit was shipped with all intact

Nightmare unit, Nightmare service.

Not only do I have the nightmare of not having a reliable computer, I can't back up my files to reload the software. The service people at ASUS are incredible. One took 17 days to respond, and that response was worthless. This company has over a dozen...

i5, 8g DDR and low price

Doesn't boot up properly almost half the time. Windows Explorer jams up, denying backup and forcing a reboot. Goes into sleep mode while I"m typing

Asus Essentio CG5275-AR003

I was shopping for a big bang for buck fast PC, fast enough to play any current game without dialing back the settings. ASUS Essentio CG5275-AR003 was being offered by the egg guys as factory refurbished, $535 WOW, instant sale. I received the CG5275...

How can you not like a 3.2ghz cpu, 8gig ram, 1 T HD, at a price so low you couldn't DIY build, at least in Sept 2010. What a great starting point for a mid range PC

The case sucks, it is HUGE, the slanted face top door doesn't open far enough to easily insert headphones or a mic. However the size allows for upgrades with room to spare

"good value Good value"

I wouldn't buy it again until I verify the problems I'm having are with Windows 7 & not the ASUS hardware.

Nice price. I use it for work. Has speed, good multi-tasking. Does not have annoying add on like you see with Dell or HP.

top access door to USB is stinks. The system sometimes crashes when viewing photos. when you move a file to desk top & send it via e-mail, the file icon stays on desk top and can't be removed or deleted, until system boot. ? ASUS or Windows 7 ???

Product Specifications

Powered by the latest Intel Core i5 Clarkdale processor with Intel HD video technology and a 8GB DDR3 memory capacity, the ASUS Essentio CG5275 brings you astonishing visual enjoyment with surreal graphics courtesy of a dedicated DirectX 11 graphics card with a maximum 1G VRAM, as well as the massive storage capability of a 1TB hard disk drive for games, videos, movies and other data. With the Q-Fan cooling system, users can now work in a distraction-free environment with minimal system noise. This unique technology, which intelligently and automatically adjusts CPU fan speeds according to system load and temperature. Hence, the cooling fan is not constantly running at top speed, prolonging the life cycle of your cooling fan while conserving battery power. CG5275 features exclusive ASUS EPU - the world first power saving engine, which provides total system power savings by detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power in real-time. With auto phase switching for components, the EPU automatically provides the most appropriate power usage via intelligent acceleration and overclocking - helping save power and money. In minimalist design, form follows function. ASUS Essentio CG5275 reflects this philosophy with its tilted form which facilitates the entry of cool air to the chassis from below. This improvement allows the fans to spin slower and keeps noise to a minimum. As well as being cool on the inside, Essentio CG5275 is cool to the touch with its anodized aluminum bezel and steel chassis. These carefully selected materials and finishes ensure that it will look great in any modern interior.
