Asus Essentio CM5675-07

Editors' note: This review is part of our 2010 retail laptop and desktop back-to-school roundup , covering specific fixed configurations of popular systems that can be found in retail stores.

New case design adds polish; convenient port access; relatively fast single-core and multitasking performance.

Emulated four-core Intel chip slower than less-expensive competition on multithreaded apps; few remarkable features; Essentio brand unacknowledged on the Asus Web site.

As much as we like the new chassis, a sparse feature set limits the Asus Essentio CM5675-07's shelf appeal. It's certainly not a bad computer, and its Intel Core i5 650 CPU is fast enough for most tasks, but we wish Asus had done more to help this...

Asus Essentio CM5675

What the Asus Essentio CM5675 really has going for it is the 8GB of RAM. You won't get any better RAM from any of the other machines in the lineup that we looked at. The problem is more with the features that it is lacking. We would have liked to see a...

This computer comes with 8GB of RAM, which is the best that we've seen

There is only a 90-day limited warranty and there is no wireless option

This computer has a good amount of RAM, but nothing else sets it apart from the competition.

It's The Best Yet

Worth Your Money

It's Amazing When It Comes To Graphic

It Doesn't Have Built In eSATA Or USB3.0 But Other Than That Nothing Really

Very good value for the price!

Great for the everyday user and occasional downloader, but not quite potent enough for serious gaming!

Runs quietly and Flawlessly

Could use a better graphics card and more faster memory

Most power for the least money...

Like others, my system BSOD'ed within hours. Mine was a refurb, so I didn't feel any hesitance in opening the box (as the seal was already broken) when trying to resolve the problems. I would say that Asus customer service was pretty good--if you have...

Lots of memory, good storage, first generation i5, lots and lots of USB ports, easy to access memory card reader

Underpowered graphics; keyboard isn't great. For "green" reasons, it has a rather low-powered power supply; this might cause the hardware/BSOD problems that others have pointed out

Never worked properly, never got it fixed.

I purchased an Asus CM 5675 at Best Buy and it would not boot up but immediately "blue screened" instead. So, I returned the unit and had it exchanged the same day. Over the next several weeks I noticed that the computer would Blue Screen and restart...

good specs for the price

first unit blue screened right out of the box. The unit was exchanged and started to BSOD after five days. I was told to fix it, Best Buy "fixed it", ASUS "fixed it". Still BSOD. Bad product, bad support
