Asus P2-M3A3200 HTPC Review

Home Theater Personal Computers, or HTPC for short, are one of the newest device to appear in our living rooms. They can be used as a DVR, digital video recorder, or simply as an upgradeable and feature packed multimedia player. With today's huge hard...

Affordable ; Quiet ; Flexible configuration ; Small footprint

Build quality ; Accessory bundle

Without a doubt, as the testing revealed, the Asks P2-M3A3200 case and motherboard bundle wasn't meant for heavy processor work and gaming. The board completed scientific benchmarks on par with the other motherboard, but gaming performance was abysmal...

Asus's T3-P5945GC has the same attractive white and silver appearance as the company's AMD-based T3-M2NC51PV.

bad luck again

small and quiet, 8 G RAM configuration only if it works fine. After two returns last year, I got a good box, so I purchased the same model again last week. I love this model, but I have to return it for a replacement due to memory issue like last year....

RAM, RAM issue, have to return back to newegg since ASUS tech support confirmed the defect. I returned this model twice last year, then I have to return the recent purchase again, obviously this model has quality issue. It costs me another 17 bucks for...

Easy Setup/ Value System

I would use it building a Home Server.

Was able to put it together quick an easy. I needed a WIN XP box and installed and booted in first shot.

A little noisy

Woefully inadequate power supply

Coupled perhaps with a low power 65W Core 2 Duo and a 5400 rpm hard drive this would probably work as a workstation or media center (if you add a very lower power video card to it).

Nice form factor, as a barebone you don't have to add much to it. Been able to set it up successfully with XP Pro, Ubuntu 8.10 and W2K3 Standard 64-bit.

The power supply is woefully inadequate. Specifications claim it can handle Intel Core 2 Quad and 8Gb of memory. Unfortunately if you put both into the system it's a toss up when 8 times out of 10 the machine will fail to boot due to lack of power...

ASUS P3-P5G33 Intel Socket T(LGA775) Intel G33 Barebone - Retail

compact design.

I'm not able to get it to post with more than 4 gig of ram. I'm afraid to put in a 2nd hard drive due to the tiny looking (and low powered) power supply.

Not good

Tech support is insufferable. They are at least American, when you can get a hold of one. Trouble is they have no understanding of what is going on officially from Asus because they don't communicate! Wow, I have it saved that they do not know what is...

Small, clean, powered on, found connected peripherals, PCIe slot powered an overclocked 4670.

Processor support is pathetic. uCode errors with any of the newer 45nm processors. Website support doesn't list all supported processors while official bios update page says it "fixes" voltage issues with E8000 series... WHAT? So does it or doesn't it...

Works Great with WHS

Components: Intel E2180 w/ Speedstep enabled, Stock Intel heatsink, 2GB Mushkin RAM, 500GB WD5000AAVS, 750GB WD7500AACS, and 1TB WD10EADS. All are Green Power hard drives.

I bought this barebones kit to use some of the components I already had on hand to build a Windows Home Server. Upon opening the box I was impressed with the fit and finish of the kit.

Uses non standard board. If the board dies the case is pretty much worthless unless you can find a replacement board.

Cool little home server

Next generation T3 will be more powerful.

Running great on Windows Home Server, an Intel E6600, 4GB G-Skill RAM, WD Caviar Black 1TB HD. Cool & quiet, the little Asus T3 sits in the corner and does its job. Front panel hides the handy USB and flash media ports. Great price. Add your components...

Doesn't run final generation Intel 775 processors. Nothing to complain about
