ASUS Terminator 2 T2-AE1: Mod-friendly Barebones System | silentpcreview.com

It's a socket 754 system that's a bit long in the tooth, but no one said old technology couldn't be quiet. The Asus T2-AE1 is a tidy package that looks good and is shockingly inexpensive. Can it be quiet as well?

Quality control on the finish of the base, Index

Although the T2-AE1 will never challenge for a performance crown, the older technology on which it is based it its biggest advantage. Getting a case, power supply, motherboard, heatsink, and a floppy drive for US$100 is a pretty good deal, and...

ASUS Terminator 2: a Universal Barebone

Many customers will probably like the design even though it is not so exquisite as some might expect. Silver plastic plates on the front panel, shiny metallic control elements, and black case sides produce a very favourable impression all together,...

BIG!

With the $20 rebate I just noticed it's under $100.

Haven't played any newer games with this yet. Both 2D and 3D images are sharp and crisp. Easy to install, except for the size, which is huge. Wouldn't have been a problem at all in my midsized Lian Li P50 case except I have the hard drive cage in the...

The fan is not hideously noisy, but it's noisier than my other 4 (+ power supply) fans *combined

What a pain in the!!!!!

I bought this card in Feb. for a new build and was very happy with it during the winter months because my house is like an Icebox but once summer started to show its ugly head this card showed its you know. Tried getting the newer bios and all I got...

Good card for a great price. works great in thew winter and drives internet and work programs beautifully

The bios suck and you cannot get an update for the asus site that works. The thing over heats like theres no tommorw when gaming and there seems to be no fix. I Play WoW which isn't the most graphics intencive game out there and this card heats up and...

Great card!

Great buy, especially if you catch a good rebate offer!

Great software included, overclocked out of the box, quiet fan, fast! Also includes crossfire cables

Requires 2 slots, but the fan's worth it

ASUS EAH4850 TOP/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

I never received my first rebate from asus when I ordered my first card 6 months ago. I am not sure if I will get this one, but I did want to make sure and have two of the same cards in crossfire.

I have two of these cards setup for crossfire and they pwn just about every game I have. I run a 1680x1050 monitor with AA and AF cranked up and vsync on every game. The factory overclock is nice and I haven't tried to go any further as not much of a...

The cards run pretty hot even set at 100% fan speed. The top card in the crossfire configuration runs 5-10 degrees Celsius hotter than the one on the bottom. I ordered two high CFM fans that I am going to place over the cards to help keep the temps in...

Works Well

I have the EAH4850 original and the EAH 4850 Top. Both work great. The original runs really hot when idle, but if you manually turn the fan up it will cool down A LOT. The one with the after market cooler, runs a little cooler at idle but gets even...

Works as stated ; Overclocks well ; Runs fine in CrossFireX ; No major problems ; After market cooler works a little better at idle ; Fan noise reduced (at a cost)

After market cooler is worse at load and manually increasing fan speed doesn't help

Update to "Loving It".

ASUS: If I buy another one of these, I need it to do Crossfire. If it won't, I will have to return it. OK? MSI DKA790GX motherboard, etc. Please see my 1st review "Loving It". With this purchase I will have 2 of the exact same cards from you. Thank you.

Don't be Fooled by the Price...

This isn't anything against the card itself, but ASUS has definitely lost me as a customer. Before I tried the 3rd party cooling system, I RMAed my card with ASUS. I sent it in, and a week later I got it back. And by "I got it back" I mean I got it...

It's inexpensive. The specs are decent, and there seem to be a lot of people who have good experiences with the card

Heating, plain and simple. The card heated up and caused my system to freeze on many occasions. Touching the card after a system freeze almost burned my friend's hand. I tried using a 3rd party cooling system on the card as well, but all that did was...
