Wall Street needs this one, One in every office and one in every home. Just like Henry Ford, simple yet dependable and afforable. Thanks Newegg you too ASUS

I had some difficulties in the beginning, got a good copy of 2003 server, that helps, Now this thing rocks, really rocks, so much I bought a ASUS 300-E5/P14. Unbelievable so easy to install, upgrade. After 45 yrs of business this is it CAD,ADOBE,WORD,...

Nothing ; Just have to get rid of the other junk I have purchased for years, this simply put does it all

Well designed

I like ASUS products. You can probably piece together a server for less but the convenience makes it worth the money to me. I have only installed Linux on these so I don't know what Windows would act like with this hardware. I am about to purchase...

Real RAID and comes with hard drive rails to install SATA drives in the front of the system ; Lots of cooling fans and you can set the power scheme to make them quiet or set them for performance ; Easy to understand and easy to setup ; Lots of room in...

If I had needed ASUS tech support, I would have started crying ; They are heavily camouflaged and you can pretty much forget about getting help ; I did see this in another post and I will write it on my wall ;

I hope the prior negative comments regarding this server can be erased. THANK YOU! I BELIEVE NEWEGG IS DOING THEIR BEST TO WORK THIS OUT

I have to say that the previous negative comments where mine. I stand corrected. It was not the Server that was causing me the problem. I had purchased a copy of 2003 small business server and for some reason the Cals where missing. No where in the...

Not really a Con, but this experience has I believe illustrated a lack of Microsofts thouorgh preparation and follow-up on some of their product line. Their customer service dept, tech support, licensing dept. all were not knowledgable of CALS. Only...

Running Windows Home Server - so it has a lot of files and backs up 8 PC each night.

Heavy duty cooling, four hot bay drives, all the cabling is done. It has been running for several months without stopping with 1 terabyte of storage. It is the only server we have an it sits in a closet and runs quietly

Very picky about the CPU. Make sure you check the manufacturers web site for supported processors. I had to RMA the first one, New Egg (of course) was the best

I usually don't post much, but everyone else's posts helped me understand what i was buying so I wanted to contribute. I also got a quad-core Xeon (X3220) with G.SKILL (F2-5300CL4D-4GBPQ) - no problems at all. I didn't need bleeding speed, but this...

Case=solid, rack option, roomy, extras (drive, wheels, fan); Barebones looks like pics and cable job is great; I like its options for a budget server. Not noisy compared to other servers I've had, esp 1u and 2u servers; newegg quick delivery of course

Thanks to the posts -- Hardware raid 5, but I knew I would use only 1+0; Motherboard is dated, but its only a sql/web backup server

Some good Some bad

The price does not justify this item as a purchase. As pointed out elsewhere, you can get a better system with memory and disks for about the same money.

I build Linux servers and this box works well with Linux ; There is a nice cage in the front and you can use your own SATA drives with the included sleds to install in. Well designed

I don't see how they can get away with listing hardware RAID as being included. I could never get the OS to see a logical volume. It always saw all of the drives, no matter what drivers I used. Asus tech support is about the worst I have seen in a...

Must Read

One hard drive went bad, and a second (out of three) is showing errors in the event log on W2003. I moved the drive and now it seems to be OK. This may be a controller issue - up time has been a week.

I like the case, all 4 pin fan connectors, extra Xeon fan, RAID, and hot-swap bays

I could NOT get this thing to run 667/1333 anything! It does NOT support all XEON 3000 CPU's so go to ASUS for the CPU chart

Mixed Feelings

If you want RAID 5 then get a seperate RAID card. Onboard controller sucks. As for the fans, you have been warned. With that said, this really is a good barebones. I would sell again.

On paper, this barebones server is great. Asus motherboard, lots of cooling, hot swappable hard drive cage in front, CD Burner, Floppy Drive. Good construction

1. I am disappointed this is a software RAID 5. Initialization doesn't occure until OS is installed. Initialization takes 3 to 8 hours depending on load. During Initialization everything is SLOW ; 2. Fans will drastically change RPM Up and Down over...

Check the CPU Page

Roomy, good cooling for box and cpu, very easy to setup

Make sure you check the supported CPU at ; Like stated earlier - most Xeons are not supported

Would you put something like this in your home or a small office? I don't think I'd bother given the loaded cost compared to some Dell and HP low-end servers. For home, look no further than HP's EX470 MediaSmart Home Server. For $570 (at a competing...

Nice size and capacity for a small server. Includes support for Xeon, PCI-X, for true server benefits

Quite pricey for no CPU, memory, or disks
