More additional thoughts

I can't believe so many people are harping on the power supply switch! Asus is an international company, shipping all over the world. If the switch was in 120v by default, people in the 220v hemisphere would definitely fry their PS. On the otherhand,...

Again great barebones--see previoius review

Excellent!

Everything went together as it should without hassle, this is definately a barebones that you should consider if you're looking at barebone setups.

First and for most, it is very quiet. 4 SATA ports, PSU is quite powerful ; Sleep, plenty of USB ports and for an intergrated video, it's quite decent for mild gaming

The voltage selector on the PSU, I noticed it right away

Good Value

This is a good choice for a cheap computer build. The best part is it cuts down on shipping cost compared to buying the parts individually.

It works. Comes with a floppy drive (for those that still use floppies). Good barebone to buy if you have extra parts left over from previous upgrades. It's nice and compact. The big exhaust fan is nice, too

The hard drive is difficult to install and uninstall when everything else is installed. The ATI chipset is not as good as it's rival, but it does the job

sata trouble but otherwise okay

This SATA problem is perplexing, because I know this drive to be functional in another machine, and I know the bios and drivers in this system to be up-to-date. Perhaps it's a WD-specific issue.

This box is very well put-together and really is a lot of bang for the buck. I popped a A64 4000+ cpu in with a GB the Asus-recommended Corsair budget ram. Make sure to put the cpu fan on last because there is not a lot of room to work

For some reason, addition of a wd800jd sata drive slows bios recognition of devices severely. Also, I cannot get this system to boot from this particular drive. Regular IDE drives seem to work fine

Really very good and very small barebone

Just as a point of reference, ULI chipsets are actually very good. By builders ULI was considered one of the best small chipset manufacturers around. ATI aquired ULI, and now AMD has aquired ATI, so the chipsets are actually perfect for this system. I...

I normally build all of my own systems from scratch, using Intel, Asus or MSI boards, and other top quality parts. However, I just got done building 2 smoking systems for my 2 best friends for Christmas presents with parts from Newegg (they paid for...

I must agree with others that the guide for this barebone unit is clearly inadequate. Many barebone builders are building their first systems and this guide will be of little help to them, especially if they encounter any problems. I didn't even look...

Great for the price

The case is smaller than I thought it would be, but it is kind of nice. Because of this, install the processor last, as you have to remove it to install harddrives etc. I also recommend getting round cables to replace the flat ones that come with the...

Sleek looking case, comes with motherboard, decent PSU, floppy drive, and all of the cables are already hooked up

Took me a while to get running. I couldn't get Windows to install (it kept freezing), but found I had to disable on-board USB in the BIOS. Watch out for the PSU being set to the wrong voltage, mine was, and there is a sticker over the hole clearly...

nice attention to detail

Bought this for a client that I was building a little system for. Would definitely buy an ASUS barebone again.

I am impressed by the attention to detail. Items such as indentations for screwdrives, everything lined up nicely. Loaded Windows Vista RC1 and everything worked

PATA ribbon cable are cheap and an eyesore. But then for $99, it's quite a package

Solid Basic Machine

There should be BIG RED LETTERS on the purchase page saying the included SATA drivers wont install from a floppy and you need to slipstream a CD to install XP.

Love the small case. Has nice ventilation.. Worked perfect for my application. An internet cruiser/work horse

RAM has to be in the DIMM B1 slot if your using a single stick. Has to slipstream a XP cd with the ULi SATA drivers that came on the floppy disk and hit the F6 during the XP install to load the third party hdd drivers. The SATA drivers on the included...

Great little system

The inside of the box is a bit cramped for space. It wasn't too hard to get things installed but it was a little tedious. I still give it 5 starts because of the price and simpleness of setup.

Quiet barebones system, includes onboard video and audio, even includes floppy drive (although I didn't need it.) Was a breeze to add my memory, CPU, and hard drive. Booted up and has run perfectly so far

The power supply's voltage switch defaulted to 230 V. It wasn't hard to switch to 115 V but it seems like Asus ought to switch them for units it knows will be sold in the US ; The manual is sparse on details, especially which DIMM slots to use to...
