Ceton InfiniTV 4 Review

DIY home-theater PC builders have waited a long time for a product like Ceton’s InfiniTV 4. Drop one of these cards in your machine, insert the multi-stream CableCARD you acquired from your digital cableâ€"TV service provider, and use Windows Media...

Can record as many as four HD streams--including premium content

Not compatible with satellite TV; expensive; no pay-per-view or on-demand viewing

The InfiniTV 4 is thoughtfully designed, with a flexible coaxial dongle, and permits external access to the CableCARD slot

Ceton InfiniTV 4 Review - PCWorld

For longtime fans of Windows Media Center, the InfiniTV 4 is the answer to a prayer. It's a low-profile PCI card that accommodates a single CableCARD from your cable-TV provider. Once installed, it bestows four digital tuners, each able to show and/or...

Easy to install and set up

Expensive

Four-tuner HD recording add-in card turns your PC into a home theater monster.

Ceton InfiniTV 4

Able to record four shows simultaneously. Requires a single cable card from your cable provider. Able to use media center extenders to view live and recorded shows on remote televisions. Response from manufacturer is great. WMC downloads the...

Not able to flash the firmware from the web interface. You must use the diagnositcs software. You must remove a second card if you have more than one installed in computer

The product works great. Tech support responds quickly to emails. I sent one on a Sunday evening and had a response by Monday morning. I waited 5 months for mine to show up, but it was definitely worth the wait. I did not have to wait for the...

pigtail breaks too easily

Pigtail connector used to connect the card with a COAX cable is far too flimsy. Any amount of pressure on it can damage the tiny gold connectors causing the card to be unable to receive video signals. Rigid Inflexible Coax cables connected to it can...

Good video quality, works well with Windows Media Center

Pigtail Coax connector breaks easily making the card worthless; incompatible with some NVidia chipsets

Unreliable at best

I am disappointed. I wanted this device to be part of my centerpiece media system whole home DVR. It could not keep running properly at all. Even the drivers are dodgy. One of the Ceton windows services for the tuning adapter stops running and needs to...

When it works it is an awesome product. Does what is says it does. A 4 Tuner cable card tuner that works with Windows Media Center

a stiff wind will break this product apparently ; I originally purchased this product in Dec 2012. In that time I have to RMA the device twice and now the device is not operating properly again and would need to be RMA'd again but is no longer covered...

Still running strong

Overall this card is a winner if you only plan to use it in a single PC. I recommend using this for your recording, then share the recorded folder to the PCs on your network for easy access. If you want live TV on multiple machines with this card, get...

I bought this card on 7/29/2011 and it's still running strong. 4 tuners, reliable, was significantly more expensive when I bought it but has paid for itself several times over

Having it shared across the network is horrible in my opinion. The host PC cannot be connected via wifi...only the clients can do that. Regardless of that I have everything wired and multiple times weekly I'd get some variation of tuner error from WMC...

I like it alot

I read about the fragile coax connector before I purchased it. I used a 1.5” hole saw on the back of my entertainment center so that there was zero strain on the coax connector. Works like a champ.

Works far better than the Hauppauge card it replaced. Easy installation, bug free drivers, excellent video quality, and quick tuning. I’m currently using it with WMC but may switch to XBMC

Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe

I am overall very pleased with the tuner card so don't get me wrong concerning the things I listed in the Con tag. I will be returning the cable box in a few days so that should say volumes.

No problem installing the card and setting it up with the cable company. I went in to talk with the cable company before installing it, told them what I was going to do, they gave me the M-card and instructions on who to call to activate ; Followed the...

I kept the cable companies HD-DVR to compare the two before taking it back to the cable company and here's what I have come away with ; Understand that this only applies to my experience with my cable company (CableOne) and their Motorola DCH6416...

Works with MythTV

Works well with MythTV. Pairing with cablecard was fairly straightforward with my provider (WOW!) using card's web interface. Negative comments about small cable between coax and card have merit, but the flip side of this is that if too much stress is...

Works well but could still use some improvement

Installing the Ceton wasn't hard. I placed the card in the PCI-E slot and downloaded the latest Ceton software from their website. I had a BHN technician come out with the CableCARD and a tuning adapter (annoying large I might add) and he called in the...

Four tuners in one internal card ; Works well with Windows Media Center

When first installed had macroblocking issues ; Tuning to different channels can be slow (5-6 seconds) ; Prior to installing beta firmware would stop detecting CableCARD until restarted ; Very flimsy cable on the back of the card just asking to break off
